City v Boro post match

We haven't been sussed out though, we have missed easy chances to finish off Everton now Middlesboro. Chances Liverpool have been taking.
'Sussed out' doesn't mean it's a foolproof plan to foil us, it means they've worked out the best chance of getting something against us. They're still likely to lose, but it's their best hope.
If you have an abundance of attacking flair (like Liverpool) then go toe to toe with us - as we tend not to face that very often and when we do we can struggle to deal with it.
If you don't have an abundance of attacking flair, then defend for your lives and hope you can convert a chance on the break, or a rare venture into our half.

In one sense it's stating the bleeding obvious, but plenty of poor teams in the past have tried to go toe to toe with us and been hammered, but more and more teams have 'sussed' they stand a better chance trying to frustrate us with 10 men behind the ball.

Does pep seriously believe if you let the opposition have the ball they won't come forward with it? Worryingly when we let them have the ball either through lack of concentration or by cocking up we'll gift them a chance. Clichy should be nowhere near the team now, and he didn't have to be. There were other options which would have left us more solid at the back. The Kompany situation is worrying in that if he is fit then he should play centre back instead of Kolorov. If the problem is in his head, then should he be in the squad at all?

As frustrating as it is to have drawn the last 3 games, it's got very little to do with tactics. Tactically we've dominated, but have simply failed to put away numerous gilt edged chances. I think we had 25 shots on Saturday. Not sure how that can be anything to do with tactics? If we weren't creating chances, you could argue tactics. Poor finishing is letting us down.

Totally agree.

And whilst i haven't seen the game yet, I'll bet the way Watford went into the Liverpool game is a damned sight different to how they set up against us.

Having seen what Liverpool and Chelsea did this weekend, you can bet other teams will be a bit more cautious going forward. The better you are, the harder it gets to beat teams, bizarrely.

I don't think that is entirely true. We totally dominated possession, and missed 2-3 good chances against Boro, but really we should have created a lot more with the amount of possession we had.

Since Nasri left, and Toure semi-retired, we've lost goals. navas and Silva are dangerous, but they don't score

112 pages for fuck sake.

21 shots, of those only 8 on target and only 1 goal. There's something wrong but it's certainly not our tactics...

Pep: "But teams who don’t want to attack and just stay there... what we have to improve is to be more clinical, precise, lucky in the box."
Perhaps we also need to "close out" the game when we finally go ahead against teams that are so defensive minded.
Being more defensive at say the 70 minute mark may give the opposition a bit of encouragement to try for an equaliser thereby giving us counter - attacking opportunities.

I think we could really do with a long range goal threat to help unlock defences. Someone who can routinely go close from 25-30 yards. So often we'd see teams rush out to close down Yaya in the fear he'd shoot, and then he'd play a ball for a runner into that space left by the defenders.

If you have a threat like that, the defence can't just sit back and let you go close time and time again until on of those long shots goes in.

Try 2 up front against those teams, at least the wide players would have twice as many players to aim at, too often it was Aguero and 6 defenders in the opposition box.
