City v Boro post match

We played good football 1st half, and 1-0 was the least we deserved but ran out of legs 2nd half. Had we been 0-0 at half time, we'd have probably won it as we'd have been forced to re-jig the team and we'd have gone for it. As it was we switched off when we thought the game was won.

84 pages after a draw with Boro, yet only 84 after a win v Barcelona. This place at times...
For what it's worth, we need to be more clinical, every point we've dropped at home has been down to missing chances which inevitably bite us on the arse. I personally don't think KDB, Silva and Gundogan should all start together, I'd have had Nolito is Sane in for one of them.
Anyway, long way to go and plenty of time to rectify things.

It's a motivational issue. Some players always play like they've something to prove, others only in certain games but by and large their quality alone can get us over the line.

We've seen these kind of results regardless of manager over the last few seasons. Even when we've won the league, to only do so on the last day both times tells you everything.

We might do well in the champs league because you sense with this group they have something to prove in that comp.

But in the league, week in, week out, call it hunger, desire, whatever you want - it just ain't there. The only question is should it come from within the players or is the manager also responsible for making sure they have it? It was the single biggest attribute that twat over the road had - you were out the door if he questioned your desire. It didn't matter who you were.

I think the issue Pep will have is that even if he identifies that certain players aren't mentally tough enough, he can't do much until next summer. There is going to have to be a period of transition between a squad being a squad he inherited and a squad that is his and has the characteristics that he wants.

he wont chew on any

thing, he's too stubbon to change what he thinks will one day work. we'll be 5 th by then.

A man of your vintage should know such a generalisation can be levelled at most managers. Mourinho will take the rags into mid table obscurity before changes, Klopp will have the scousers conceding three a game from set pieces before he changes, Wenger's so stubborn Arsenal supporters literally feel like they've been living the same season over and over again since 2006.

In that sense at some point you have to respect and trust that the manager has an idea of why they're doing what they're doing. Having the best manager in the world means that you have to show a little more respect and trust. Even you Bill.

we are lucky that should we win the league this year this match will mean nothing, its how we do against our immediate rivals that count. beat Chelsea scouse and co and we'll be champions.

December will be a defining month - Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal and Liverpool, with Watford and Hull too

Let's see how things stand on Jan 1st

Are we any further forward than last season ?
Worse off I in the league ,not played a top 4 team bar spurs.
About the same in the chams league
Out the cap one cup
No nearer to getting a settled first choice back four
No settled position for our midfielder s
And gone with a style of play that if the forwards don't press the keeper we struggle with
No pace and desire besides barca and wba
Are we much better off than this time last season ?
You're not invited to my party!

Tired or not we are not clinical enough in the box, we got away with it v Barca to a certain degree.

Why do the likes of Everton and Boro manage to be clinical with there only chances?

We lose the ball in dangerous positions to frequently in midfield , more clinical teams like Arsenal and Liverpool will punish us.

Lot of work to be done - and for FFS buy some fullbacks !

I know stats are not everything but seemingly we had 25 shots on goal of which 7 were on target generating 1 goal.
´Boro managed just 5 shots of which 3 were on target resulting in 1 goal.

Is target practice an option that we should persue or accept that our shooting is a bit wayward and lets generate more shots which may possibly give us more on target.
