City v Chelsea Post Match Thread

I can't believe anyone could criticise Yaya. He ran our midfield on his own for 93 minutes and playing BRILLIANTLY. He was easily our best player, by a country mile.

Agreed. We played in essence with 5 defenders and only him in midfield. He had to cope with Luiz, Matic and Ramires practically by himself.

Try playing in a 2 man central midfield, outnumbered by the opposition, and with a fucking liability alongside you. Not much fun I'd imagine.

Congratulations Chelsea, you deserved the win tonight. You didn't park the bus and thoroughly merited the win.

We need to remember that we have just had an unbeaten streak of 20 games, so it's not the end of the world that we have lost.

I expect that Kolarov, Nastasic, Dzeko and Demichellis will receive the majority of the blame on here. However, the three who need to look at themselves hardest are Kompany, Zabaleta and Yaya. Reminiscent of the Bayern defeat, our big game players went missing in action. AWOL. Kompany dithered on the ball too much. Zabaleta was thought a lesson by Hazard who is a magnificent player. Yaya was schooled my Matic. They might have inferior players to us, but playing without passion means we could end another season without silverware.

Dzeko, I don't even know my own mind anymore. I have come to the conclusion that he is a good striker against West Ham and the like, but in the top top games he doesn't cut it. That's not a criticism. We need to beat those teams so he is a great option to have. But seriously, tonight wasn't a game where we could afford him to miss 5 chances.

Pellegrini was hamstrung by injuries. I don't blame him for playing Demichellis. Rodwell can be a liability and as good as Milner is, he isn't a holding midfielder. Hodgson, Pellegrini and Mancini didn't trust him for the role. Is he undisciplined? Maybe.

The one positive from tonight. The one beacon of hope from an abject performance was Jovetic. In 20 minutes he created more than Silva, Toure, Dzeko, Navas and Negredo did all game.

Dzeko indeed is an enigma. He seems to have flipped around. Before he used to score but was very poor in build up play. Couldn't hold the ball up, poor passing, not closing down enough, BUT SCORING. Now it is reverse. His build up play to day I thought was very good. Held the ball up, passed it well, closed down, BUT HE STOPPED SCORING. It is frustrating. He had at least 2 chances tonight to score. He needs to be more clinical.

Disappointed. I really, really, wanted to humble Morinho. But no worries, we'll be full strength hopefully in the FA cup and give them a hiding!

The substitution was the worst decision of the match by far, dzeko doesn't look like he gives a care whether we win or lose, yeah suppose Negredo had a poor game up to that point but felt like he might have made an impact in them last 20 minutes

Negredo should have played ten or twenty minutes against Spurs last week, I had a feeling having two weeks out would have have distrupted his momentum and it showed today.

How many times. 5 v 4 in midfield v quality = fail. End of tactical analysis.
