City v Chelsea Post Match Thread

Congratulations Chelsea, you deserved the win tonight. You didn't park the bus and thoroughly merited the win.

We need to remember that we have just had an unbeaten streak of 20 games, so it's not the end of the world that we have lost.

I expect that Kolarov, Nastasic, Dzeko and Demichellis will receive the majority of the blame on here. However, the three who need to look at themselves hardest are Kompany, Zabaleta and Yaya. Reminiscent of the Bayern defeat, our big game players went missing in action. AWOL. Kompany dithered on the ball too much. Zabaleta was thought a lesson by Hazard who is a magnificent player. Yaya was schooled my Matic. They might have inferior players to us, but playing without passion means we could end another season without silverware.

Dzeko, I don't even know my own mind anymore. I have come to the conclusion that he is a good striker against West Ham and the like, but in the top top games he doesn't cut it. That's not a criticism. We need to beat those teams so he is a great option to have. But seriously, tonight wasn't a game where we could afford him to miss 5 chances.

Pellegrini was hamstrung by injuries. I don't blame him for playing Demichellis. Rodwell can be a liability and as good as Milner is, he isn't a holding midfielder. Hodgson, Pellegrini and Mancini didn't trust him for the role. Is he undisciplined? Maybe.

The one positive from tonight. The one beacon of hope from an abject performance was Jovetic. In 20 minutes he created more than Silva, Toure, Dzeko, Navas and Negredo did all game.

I can't believe anyone could criticise Yaya. He ran our midfield on his own for 93 minutes and playing BRILLIANTLY. He was easily our best player, by a country mile.

We just seemed slower all over the pitch. Never mind though, we're still 2nd, and I'd expect us to get maximum points from our next 6 or 7 games.

Pellers didnt get it wrong. Mourinho got it right.

Their defense was well organized, not even sure if Kun would be able to unlock it. I guess the lowest goal conceded is not for nothing.

Not the end of the world.

Disagree, we had absolutely nobody up front making runs behind the defence, Silva thrives off Sergio because it makes his game easier with him being able to thread balls through to Kun's runs.

Sergio was what we missed up front and Fernandinho was missed when we needed to break up their play when Chelsea were going forward.

No Sergio = no title, he is the match winner and the big game fear factor.
Without a shadow of a doubt we missed Sergio. when the ball goes to Kun, it sticks and he can turn so fast. He is a player we need fit for the big games.

Chins up boys. We are where we were this morning. Sometimes you just have to acknowledge the better team won, and it's been a long time since we've had to do that.
Us v them for this title. All the way. This blip will be just that - a blip.

Good lad Pidge, spot on.

Big hugs all round. Know you like a bit of that ;)

The substitution was the worst decision of the match by far, dzeko doesn't look like he gives a care whether we win or lose, yeah suppose Negredo had a poor game up to that point but felt like he might have made an impact in them last 20 minutes

Has ANYONE any idea why we made only one substitution?

Hmmmm madness .... was crying out for Milners energy to match them - You think Pellegrini would have learned from the Bayern game at home - to try and play 2 in midfield and 2 up front with Demichelis aginst a highly motivated Chelsea with bodies in midfield is absolute lunacy - Yaya must be furious!!!

The only reason I can think was Milner still wasnt/isn't 100%

Anyway about tonight they were good we weren't shit happens we move on to an important game away at Norwich on Saturday

Put aguero nasri fern and negrado in that side and its a totally different outcome.

Injuries don't help but that is what Pellegrini gets paid the amount of money he does to make the most out of the players he has available. The squad out there was good enough to at least get a point from that game had Pellegrini got his tactics right.
You can select the best tactics in the world, but the players have to still deliver. The team as a whole didn't do that - not the tactics.

Oh come on. The manager is not exempt from criticism. He got schooled by Jose tonight plain and simple. 2 in midfield was suicide, leaving Dzeko on, making only one sub when we were screaming out for another midfielder. Jose set his team up right, got the goal and shut up shop and Pelle didn't have an answer.
