City v Chelsea Post Match Thread

Disappointed but as has been said the better team on the day won.

IMO the tactical decision that won the game was having Luiz man-mark Silva. Without Aguero and Nasri it stifled our creativity as they also double (sometimes treble) teamed up on Navas. This changed when Jovetic (who looked very very good) came on but it was too late then.

We still created a few chances and probably should have had the lead in the early stages. This should hopefully be a shock to the system. As others have said Norwich are in for a long day and I think with pretty much our first team back v Chelsea in the cup we'll do them.

I have no issue in starting MDM over Milner. We've seen Milner playing in the middle with Yaya this season and it was a train wreck. And to be fair, MDM did ok for 70 minutes, barring the last 20 in the first half.

But why he would not bring Milner on with say 20 or 30 to go, I have no idea. Look what Milner did for us in Munich, and he can't even get on the pitch when we are losing and have 2 unused subs. Utterly utterly baffling. I can only assume Pellegrini just froze in the headlights or something. Baffling.

why cant we defend like chelsea did today??????????

because you need midfield players to sit deep too and we don't do that. We needed fernandihno bad tonight.
And Cahill and Terry have a very good understanding at the back
Can't say that about VK and whoever MP decides to pair with him.
It's about time we had a settled CB pairing.

Nastasic for fucksake - Pellegrini needs to drop this obsession he has with MDM, he's OK in the games vs bottom half PL teams to give players a rest but in top games forget it ... nowhere near good enough, we really need to be thinking about developing Nastasic and his partnership with Vinnie again. Pellegrini is getting this so wrong at the moment.... and why the f*ck is MIlner sat on the bench so much while this donkey MDM lopes around the pitch like he's in quickdsand !! ...

short and sweet. Mourinho is too good for Pellegrini. And he has to be admired, he is the best in the business imo
Yea the best thats why he loses against stoke and draws with west ham

Hats off to Chelsea. Wasn't expecting that performance from them tbf.

However pellers got his tactics wrong today. Why he started demichelis in mid is beyond me. does anyone know why pellers didn't bring on any fucking subs after jovetic?

Dzeko and negredo just can't play together in the big games. Negredo played worse than dzeko and that's saying something. Dzeko just showed us why he was the super sub the shit bastard and it's not the first time he's played shit.

On the upside, jovetic had a good game. He needs to start against Norwich!

Dogmatic 442 will be our downfall.

This is what I really dont understand.

We played with one striker 40 minutes in 2nd half - where the fuck did that take us??? (dont give me Jovetic, anyone who knows him is aware that he is NOT a pure striker).

We actually looked EVEN WORSE with one striker...we're just not built for it (especially now with Nasri injury)...we just end up having bunch of midfielders who really STRUGGLE in front of goal.

Pellegrini v Mourinho
Played 8

Mourinho wins 6

Draw 1

Pellegrini wins 1

Mourinho team’s goals scored 26

Pellegrini team’s goals scored 9

Mourinho’s sides have never failed to find the net against Pellegrini’s Malaga and Manchester City teams.
Pellegrini has conceded 3.2 goals per game on average against Mourinho

How can you compare Malaga to Real Madrid though?

Give me Pellegrini's football anyday of the week.
This is exactly what I'm saying. La Liga can't be compared to the EPL at all esp the 2 previous teams they managed. Chances aside, draws should have been had from these two games as Ivanovic will never score a goal like that again.
