City v Chelsea Post Match Thread

The worrying things for me are two things:

1- We couldnt deal with Hazard so how are we going to deal with Messi.

2- Picking Demichelles to play CM ahead of Rodwell and Milner !

I did say we wouldnt park the bus- That proved to be Citys job tonight. Chelsea have more than one way of playing and that's why we are a trophy winning machine...

Simple. We did not take our chances early on. Silva had two virtually open goals and for what ever reason we could not hit a barn door tonight. We could have been 2-0 up in 15 minutes and then it would have been over.
No complaints. Beaten by a shot from outside the pen area.....onwards and upwards

-- Mon Feb 03, 2014 10:34 pm --

Simple. We did not take our chances early on. Was cringing reading some pre match posts on here about mourinho and how we will "do em good tonight ". Love him or loath him, he is the real deal. Tactics perfect tonight. We lost the game tonight the minute we lost fernandinho.
That was a lesson on how to defend and counter attack right there. Our back 4 was woeful as were our front 2. Silva is shocking in front of goal and we needed a big performance from him and didnt get one.
I shudder to think what barcelona would have done to us tonight. Hazard is a joy to watch and was on a different planet to any of our players.
I think we have seen the new champions tonight and unfortunately it isnt us.

A few major problems presented themselves tonight:

Dzeko is a striker who can't shoot.

Demichellis is a Footballer who can't play football.

And Nastasic, Kolarov & Zabaleta are defenders who can't tackle.

I agree about Kolorov & Nastasic but Dzeko just had an off game & to say that Zabeleta can't tackle is ridiculous.

Chelsea played us at the right time with us having injuries to key players.

MD was bordering on a joke in midfield.

Dzeko is out of form and Negredo looked like he has lost momentum after being rested.

No Sergio = no title, he is our match winner, the man for the big occassion and our true real fear factor.

Pellegrini should have put an extra man in midfield.

Disgrace of a performance that, worse than Bayern at home.

Absolute rubbish. The only joke is your post on here. You've been dying to post this shite.
Hope you're happy.

We need to urgently do something about our CORNERS....

We are literally NO THREAT from set pieces....out-swinging corners (from both sides) look very flat and are really tough to get on the end of...ball travels forever, and is either to close to the keeper, or too far out to be of any use to anyone.

When we have a corner I am already thinking "get back on defense, this is another wasted posession"....and that is BAD, my friends.

The substitution was the worst decision of the match by far, dzeko doesn't look like he gives a care whether we win or lose, yeah suppose Negredo had a poor game up to that point but felt like he might have made an impact in them last 20 minutes

Negredo should have played ten or twenty minutes against Spurs last week, I had a feeling having two weeks out would have have distrupted his momentum and it showed today.

At the risk of getting barracked again... The same source who told me Ferny was going to be out also said "and Negredo's going to have an injection to play". I was too reeling from the Fernandinho blow to ask anything more about Negredo - maybe it was a painkiller for his shoulder.

Dzeko's simply not a player right now - he needs so many chances to score. On this form he'd be lucky to score 7 goals a season in a mid table side.

Both teams created many chances tonight and the result could have gone either way......depending on the quality of finishing.

We certainly missed some of our most influential players.

Of course it's very disappointing to lose but the important thing is to stay positive and move on.

Talking of positives I think Jovetic is gonna be great......give him a few more games to get fitter and he will add a lot to the team. Also really impressed with Navas......he was a continuous threat over the whole 90 minutes and our MOM for sure.

The blueprint on how to beat us has been out in the open for a long time now
If that comment has one ounce of sense in it, why the fuck has hardly anyone beaten us?

I despair sometimes.

Presumably because the only "blueprint" is being able to play better on the day than we can! If he can see another one he'd better tell us what it is - quick!
