City v Everton Post Match Thread

Bit late with this but I thought we looked a lot better when we moved to a 433. Aguero dropped to the left and Silva played in behind Negredo. We looked much more solid and retained possession more easily. We seemed to then revert back to 442 for the second half before changing again to 433.

Silva looked well up for it today and got away with a couple of tackles before eventually getting carded. Was his usual majestic self on the ball but was really snapping away at the Everton players.

I thought Fernandinho was awesome in the second half, Barkley and Lukaku were noticeably quiet because Dinho seemed to be everywhere sweeping up.

Negredo's energy up front is a revelation, even in the 90th minute at 3-1 he was still hassling defenders and looking to burst through their back line. Beast.

Loved the support for Hart and thought he had a solid game, will do him the world of good. Lescott was clearly at fault for the goal but he seemed to step up once Kompany went off. Nastasic is just class. Zabba had a few hairy moments early on but was otherwise fine and Kolsrov was a real threat going forward and solid defensively.

Milner never stopped running and his industry almost completely nullified the threat of Baines. An all round very good performance.

Tonight on motd we start with a team in the bottom half of the league verse the team at the bottom of the league !
Liniker's snide comments pissed me off, "what was the differance between the two sides, apart from all the decisions going against Everton" ! Funny last week it was "good to see" a lineman ignoring a clearly offside goal. Also same thing in the Liverpool/Palace game ie penalty like City's, and Ian Holloway saying " if that was a pen, well we should of had one" yet not a word about it back in the studio !

But, but, but, Fernandinho's shit and useless and lightweight and can't run and can't tackle and brings nothing to the team.....

Nice assessment kenzie and agree wholeheartedly.

the bbc five live was every bit as biased , it sounded like chris waddle co-commentating and he only decided city deserved to win the game with about 5 minutes to go , they blamed hart for the goal (along with lescott) .The motd commentary took the biscuit , ridiculous comments from steve wilson about hart and our performance , if we had won the game 6-2 or 7-2 everton couldnt have complained , we wasted so many very good chances , i think i will be writing a stiff e-mail to the bbc head of sport ,but in the meantime my mute button will be pressed into action in future.

Farce having the rags on first, if they had lost there is no way in this world that would have happened, much more action and entertainment in our game. TBF Shearer was very complimentary towards us.

-- Sat Oct 05, 2013 11:30 pm --

Agreed, that commentator was relishing Hart not keeping Lukaku's effort out, well bollocks to you you biased twunt.

Really enjoyed it. It was like having the old title winning City back. Pleased to see Lescott back in defence. Great to see Silva and Milner all over the pitch and with some great link up play. Silva was the difference in the way he popped up everywhere and sometimes at the same time. Much as we bang on about formations when you have Silva and to a lesser extent Milner here there and everywhere it all becomes a bit moot. I have a soft spot for Edin but Negrado is a must start alongside Sergio. Downside was Kompany and our defence still looks vulnerable oh and the officials were beyond useless but all in all a thoroughly enjoyable day.

...and did you hear Lineker's little Freudian slip whilst discussing Un*t*d's win with Hodgson?

Silva and Milner play very well together. You would swear sometimes there were 2 Silvas on the pitch, he covers so much ground here, there and everywhere. The second half was a truly dominant display, and was enhanced further when Nasri came on.

As for the totally unjustified criticism of Fernandinho, I thought he had a great game. Don't forget when Yaya pushes forward, Fernandinho has to cover an awful lot of ground without a great deal of support. Overall I thought he played exceptionally well.

I notice that Ric and others are advocating 4-2-3-1 in the away games. If so a very tough call would have to be made re the one up front. For me it would have to be Alvaro. Playing away you need that junkyard dog mentality, and that's what he has in abundance.

Fernandinho does all the little things, he's a more agile GazBaz. He may not fill up the stat sheet but he makes important tackles tracks back links a bit of play and stays out of attackers way. That's why if you are watching it on TV like me, you are wondering where he is unless you absolutely focus in on him. Yea he had some wayward passes but if he played a really good game today.
I think he will be a better player than Gaz Baz eventually. But I'll take Gaz Baz's Control over his. Dihno is just a tab bit sloppy with the ball. But I see him as instrumental once we switch to 5 in the middle.

It was like having the 2011/12 Silva back today, he was excellent. For all our problems away from home defensively, the key attacking players such as Silva, Nasri, Yaya, Aguero and Negredo all seem to be in top form, we sort our other problems out and we're laughing.
