City v Ipswich 1981 FA Cup Semi

Don't know if I dreamt it or heard it somewhere that a City train had broken down meaning supporters couldn't get there. Anyone know if this was correct?

I remember playing footie on the croft at Maine Road with my pals when the game was on and all the people were sat on the doorsteps with the radio on.

I was only six at the time and still remember the huge cheer that went up and the celebrating in the streets.

My mum let me wait up for my dad to get home and I spent the rest of the week doing Paul Power free kicks.

Memorable for a number of reasons. Not least I got pissed in France on the Thursday and ended up in French nick. Nothing serious and I ended up out of the cell and drinking coffee with them in an office. I showed them my ticket for the semi, and we got chatting about football . No charges , I came back on the Saturday morning. Just got to Birmingham with an hour to spare, a few pints and a glorious afternoon.
Was with failsworth crew and ended up in knutsford on the way home, mad days.

39 Years Ago today

What a game,and win

Sheer Bedlam when we scored

Anyone got any Memories of this at All?
Yep Remember it well. Couple of weeks before broke my wrist playing five a side so went to Villa park with arm in plaster. Took my place behind the goal and stood next to bloke with leg in plaster! When Paul power took the rocket free kick I had one arm in the air and he was hopping up and down on one leg!! Never forget it!

Brilliant

Lol

I was 12 in the North stand with my 2 brothers 14 and 22, eldest brother had come back from the Navy to take me and my next youngest brother, we bought tickets outside from a tout and remember it like it was yesterday, stood at the bottom ready to jump on the fence I always say up to recent times Gillingham in the play off final was my finest memory in my City life, however Paul Powers free kick has to be right up there.

40th Anniversary - so thought I'd bring this back to the top. Still have vivid memories of that day. I was at the back of the Holt End peering over the massed crowd. Power's shot just looped over Paul Cooper and in my mind there was a momentary pause as we took in that it was a goal and then we exploded. Last 15 minutes took an age - great young side with the experience that Bond had brought in after Allison was sacked against a very good Ipswich side who were challenging for the title.

Went on my own in my little mini, parked virtually outside, bought a £2-50 ticket for £9
