City v Liverpool Post Match Thread

Gutsy win, had to work really hard in the 2nd half. What the f was Kolarov trying to do when he should have hoofed the ball away in the box, almost cost us a goal that sheer stupidity in the 2nd half. Lescott worked very hard but didn't look at all comfortable. Thought we were a bit impetuous at times, diving into tackles on the half way line and getting left for dead. Commanding performance from Joe Hart though and again, great resolve from the blues to come back from a goal down at a time when we were looking a bit out of sorts. We did look a bit short in the box though playing only 1 upfront, in the first half Zab/Navas got to the byline quite a few times and there were just Negredo in the box to aim for.
Crucial win though and full credit to the team.

We earned the win even if Stirling was actually onside, we d have pulled it off too.

MOTM Hart

Offside had been given before Stirling got to Hart, who knew it and did not make a proper challenge; if he had needed to, Hart might have won the ball.

Pal that's an excellent point. But you have to admit the feeling after the game and on here has been very much one of 'phew, glad we managed that'
I honestly don't think the majority of city fans thought we deserved to get 3 points there tbh.
Glad we did of course, and let's avoid the Palace banana-skin

Weren't impressed by Liverpool to be honest, I like Coutinho but even when they attacked they didn't threaten much.

Suarez should have been carded for the dive which he doesn't need to be doing as he is a quality player, yet he didn't perform tonight.

Yaya was way off pace tonight and he had Fernandhino to thank for pulling him out of the brown stuff first half.

Credit to Kolarov who is having a decent season.

Hart nearly back to best and Milner should start more games as his work rate is tremendous.

Beast is loving it at City and he is proving to be signing of the season.

Good 3 points and now time to push on.

Good grief - need a stiff drink or ten after that. Well done, Blue boys! Both tonight and in getting almost 100% of the points since Sunderland when we were on pace for something like 62 total on the season. (Gotten 19/21 since then, I think).

Very, very good side those dippers. I do hate the filthy diving cannibal and those thieving bastards in general but much rather would want them in the UCL than the shite put on display the other day by Arse and the Chavs.

Credit to Pellers for getting Joe Hart back in at #1 when he did, too.
I actually believe this was a measured tactic...Joe with everything to prove in our toughest test at home domestically so far....the engineer strikes!!

Good point - I kind of figured he'd get Joe back by the Arse/dipper fixtures. Plan might have changed if Hart had fallen on his face in the League Cup or whatnot. But yes, good point about getting him back out with something to prove at just the right time.

Now for those 10 drinks! I need them badly!

NBCSN Match of at the Day just mentioned this. Brilliant tactic if true, that's why MP gets paid the big bucks haha. Do we sell Pants this summer and look for someone else to fill that spot?

We didn't play all that well today. But we won.

Hart made some very good saves but made the wrong decision not to come for the ball where Joleon was backtracking and they nearly scored, and he still runs to the edge of the box and holds onto the ball for too long when outlet balls are on (that really frustrates me). There's still loads of improvng to be done in his game.

We defended well for the most part. Joleon looked a bit shakey on the ball at times but he wasn't helped at times by being passed the ball when he was under pressure. Kompany dived in a few too many times but was immense for the rest of the time. Zaba was very good and I thought Kolarov almost deserved the MOTM.

Yaya's not playing well, simple as that. He rarely gives the ball away in possession, of course that's a great asset, but he's so immobile and teams are picking him out to play around. It's been a problem all season. Fernandinho was and is absutely fantastic. For me, the best central midfielder in the Prem. He's fucking top class.

I thought Nasri looked tired today but Silva Navas and Negredo played well. Not fantastic, but well. I thought between the four of them we cut them open at ease at times but in the second half gave the ball away sloppily in really good areas where we really should have been killing the game off. If we'd just got the passes right we'd have buried that game and them. Their defence was all over the place in the second half and we just didn't pass it right or made the wrong decision.

As I say, we weren't that good (by no means poor), but we won and that's the most important thing.

There's not many teams I enjoy beating more than the Scousers. What a whingy, niggly, cry baby, diving bunch of cûnts that club are. From fans to players alike, they're a bunch of big girl's blouses; softest cûnts in football and that's saying something. Time wasting at 0-1 and 1-1 and moaning like fuck when we were doing it at 2-1 - fuck off you half bred twats! We made you look good today. If we were on it we'd put 4 or 5 past them.

Yes that was a poor mistake from Kolarov. However, over the 90 minutes Aleks was very good and justified his selection. He contributed everything from a last ditch tackle excellent ball retention.

Not the best of performances, but I'll take it! Mason is awful as a ref though!

I was dreading Mason's performance but putting the score aside I didn't think he reffed as badly as some of the clowns we've had this season.

Same here. He'd previously given us absolutely zilch in any of our games and I'd swear he held a grudge, but fair play he wasn't too bad today.

Anyway, Rodgers can shut up with his moaning about him. At least 3 pens we could have had courtesy of that neanderthal Skrtel and neither of the challenges on Suarez were as bad.

I think Rodgers is an orange, botoxed, teeth whitened, David Brent billy bullshitter.

Doing a decent job but could be out of the top 4 by the weekend and he'll go back to talking the istree of this football club.

That's more like it ;-)

Jolean Lescott.....god every time he plays, im nervous as heck. He does alot of ball watching, even for their first goal. Jeez If it wasnt for Kompany, it would have been even more a closer match.

Has to be sold.".
