That was one hell of a ride.... Yes we kept suarez quite but the goal scoring threat did not come from him it shows they are just not a 1 man team... they are dead cert for top 4 imo... Merlin, zab, and neg where outstanding today but motm was joe... IMHO it should have been a draw.. but who cares 3 points is 3 points

I agree they were quality and if they carry on like that, top 4 is a dead cert. in fact 2nd would be pretty much guaranteed.

But that said, I do not agree with your assessment that a draw would have been fair. The problem with that assessment is that it does not value quality over quality. They gave it their best shot, and came up short, they had chances and failed to take all but one of them. We had chances and took two, Both sides had key players missing. Both sides had key decisions go against them. But we scored 2 and they scored 1. In my book that means we deserved to win.

Bit annoying to read Rodgers whining about the ref when he was equally shit for both teams. Surprised Vinnie had a fuckin shirt left by the end of the game, Skrtel had hold of it for about 30 of the 90 mins ffs.

What programme are you watching? They were drooling over our one touch football.

Savage was drooling, but then anybody with half a fuckin brain would have been drooling. MotD are just a bunch of Dipper/Rag/Arse loving wankers.

Re: Liverpool Thread 2013/14

Henderson and Sterling were very impressive, seems to be lots of good young english players at the minute

Can't be arsed typing out a large post on the subject as the thread moves too quick tonight, however I was very impressed with the dippers formation and tactics.

When they had the ball they effectively played 3 at the back with Lucas dropping between the 2 centre halves and then had 4 wingers, 2 on either side, where the fullbacks played alongside the 2 orthodox wingers.

I'm sure someone will do a more in depth study of it using those heatmap thingys but I'm sure it will show how advanced their 2 fullbacks were and how Lucas played between Skrtel and Sakho.

we struggled to deal with it for a fair portion of the game and it allowed them to move the ball up the pitch with ease.

They seemed to mirror our formation at times with Coutinho and Sterling constantly coming narrow, and both Henderson and Allen making runs in behind our centre halves. They effectively tried to play us at our own game and nearly pulled it off.

I don't think enough credit has been given to MP, he could've easily stuck with 4-4-2 which has worked until now at home but made the decision to match the dippers with 4-2-3-1.

It was a tight game but it was the right decision, if we played 4-4-2 they would've overrun us in midfield, as it was Yaya struggled with the mobility of Henderson and Allen.

Yeah, I think it was definitely the right call. Suppose you could argue Aguero being injured forced his hand.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game I have to say. Arguably the best football I've seen in the PL. Liverpool look the real deal. Would love to see them keep the rags out of the top 4.

Excellent result and a very very impressively resilient performance from us. The type of result and performance that wins leagues.

To come from behind against a rival who is in great form is very very pleasing imo. We quite easily couldve doubted ourselves and withered at that point. We showed immense confidence, trust in our own ability and strategy, and composure to get back in it and then get on top.

To then hold on to the 2-1 half time score and see it out is again very very pleasing, especially when you consider Liverpool's attacking strength.

Thought Vinny had Suarez well under control and didn't allow him to influence the play in any dangerous area. Excellent defensive marshalling from Vinny. He dealt with him as convincingly as he usually does with Rooney.

Having said that he wasn't MOTM. That was Fernandinho. This guy is fucking unbelievable. He is everywhere. The way Liverpool played today highlighted how when Yaya is well managed, Fernandinho just steps up and does the work of two men incredibly efficiently. World class DM imo.

Hart was absolutely brilliant and the 'rest' has clearly done him good. MP deserves much credit for his management here.

That's Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd, Everton, Newcastle and Spurs all disptached at home. Cant really argue with that.

Liverpool are clearly a very good side and imo are the best prem side we've played at home this season by some distance. Only Southampton (away) have impressed me as much.

They remind me of us in 2010/11 when we finished 3rd. Very good but 2/3 top level players short of title winners.

Will deffo be top 4 on that showing though.

Bin Dippers will be lucky to finish 4th - squad is far too thin to keep going IMO, they've peaked too early.

That is pretty much the worst we have played at home this season. Against the best side we have played - who were completely playing out of their skin. We still bet them so what does that say ?

We were also missing a world class forward and one our first choice centre halfs (actually lescott is probably 4th choice these days) so its not like we had our strongest side or we played anywhere near our best.

Even if they had pulled another goal back I am confident we would have gone and scored another, bringing on the players required to do so. That's how we roll these days.

Liverpool weren't exactly at full strength either were they?

Missing their captain and one of the best strikers in the Premier League (Sturridge).

Close game that could have gone either way. A goalkeeping error was the difference in the end.
