We were crap, as were the tactics, or distinct lack of them.

That's not football, basically goading your opponent to knock you out by lowering your hands and sticking your chin out.

Liverpool were no great shakes, a slightly upgraded version of Swansea, who also caused us the same problem between our midfield and defenders.

When Aguero is missing and Negredo is up top on his own, our shortcomings on the back foot are just more pronounced as we lack that extra consideration that opponents have to usually accommodate for.

Lescott should never play for us again, it was clear to see how important it is having a second central defender in Demichelis, who can actually pass a ball forward out of the backline.

Well done Joe Hart, but I thought the rest of the lads are starting to look leggy, our squad depth and quality is nothing of the sort.

What a fantastic result, though. Even at 60 per cent we can get the job done.

Please Manuel, go cap in hand this January.

One left back, one central defender and a world class midfielder.

I think you're being too hard on the lads TH, the dippers were always going to give us a game with them being the in-form team in the Prem.

We didn't have the usual swagger in our play but to dispatch a team that'll be in the top four in May at 60% is the thing of Champions.

Er, we are the in form team in the Premier League (top of the form table both before and after the game).

Not good enough.

Not picking on you mate but it is funny - this season it feels like no matter what the score not matter who we beat someone finds something that's not good enough. We're a miserable bunch at times :)

I take your points though. About Lescott and about Yaya.

Being bankrolled by a billionaire can probably make you lose a sense of perspective I guess. Easy to forget where you came from.

An excellent result against a top side. They have a big advantage of not being involved in Europe and the carling cup, so their focus is solely on the league. It is obvious to everyone that we lack a proper holding midfielder more than anything else. Hart was excellent, but Lescott got the runaround. Suarez is a top top player.

No disputing that mate in terms of the stuff of champions, only that some are allowing the victory to mask some major deficiencies today?

As one of only a handful on here who was insisting we would be top going into the New Year and win the title when there was some ridiculous shit being levelled at both the manager and the team just a couple months back, I can still remain objective enough to know when we have been off it and three points owe more to luck than design.

Just my opinion. United have won that type of game consistently for 20 years.

We used to say how crap they were but still managed to grind it out.

Very unlikely that we will buy anyone in January.

Oh do fuck off with your sanctimonious bullshit. Being bankrolled by a billionaire has got nothing to do with losing perspective. We all know where we come from, we don't need some fucking scouser coming on to tell us.

You don't need to buy anyone. With the squad you have the league should be won at a canter this season.

Man United look very average, as do Chelsea. Arsenal are going well but they aren't anything special and Liverpool are very much a work in progress.

If you don't win the league that will be the end of MP.

Felt we deserved a point today. So pleased we stood toe to toe with a team that's been a title challenger for so long, speaks volumes about our credentials for the top 4. Easy the two best teams in the league, certainly one of the matches of the season so far. Can't wait for the return leg
