City v Liverpool Post Match Thread

I think everyone is going over the top on how good Liverpool were, for me they played well enough, we were below par but still good enough for the win.
We had a spell around the 70th minute where Liverpool looked beat and if we had scored then we might have got a fourth.
Great result....

+1 to this. And even past that, if Merlin's header early on goes in rather than off the woodwork I almost think the dippers would have lost the plot immediately and gotten sliced up like the rags, arse, etc.

Good side, sure, but FFS the better club won. Even on its less than best day.

Just on the point of their wrongly called offside goal, its was a wrongly called offside decision that led to players stopping playing. Hart had seen the flag and didn't try to hard to stop the lad so lets not get caught up in the hard done by Liverpool story too much.

does stering miscontrol and get a touch after going round hart? are both players behid hart ? cant keep up with the offside rule
They were both onside when the original through ball was played (by Suarez?). After that, as long as the player receiving the pass doesn't get himself in front of the player passing the ball, they're okay.

Glad someone watched the same game as me then!
Yep, that's the one I saw as well.

I thought he was but " a player is in an offside position if he is nearer to his opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second last opponent"

That's how I see it.

We didn't play well yesterday and won. There were opportunities in the second half where, had we picked out the right pass (some were simple ones), we'd have bagged a few more goals. GJohnson was up the right wing scratching his arse and Nasri exploited the space he'd left at RB, he was wide open running into the box and Silva passed it over to Navas instead who lost it; Negredo turned really well into space and curled it out wide to Navas, The Beast was wide open in the box and Navas smashed it out for a throw-in; Nasri and Negredo were unmarked in the box as GJohnson was off scratching his arse up the pitch again and Sakho had fallen over, Navas was free for a pass to get a cross into them and Silva passed it (under no pressure) straight to Sissoko. There were half a dozen of these examples in the second half where if we'd just got things right we'd have scored a few more goals.

Granted Liverpool could have scored a few more too, but had we played well we could have buried them. And it isn't like big things needed to change, just the right pass.

Liverpool played like they always do against us and that what I expected yesterday but it says a lot about us that Liverpool had one of there best performances of the season and got beat by a team for me not at its best..

Can see that outburst by Brendon biting him on the arse and Skirtel will be punished by the referee on Sunday and chelsea will be awarded a penalty for his shirt pulling..

Same here.Overreaction to how good Liverpool played.

From now on I don't really give a stuff how we play, if we grind out 20 wins and also grind out wins in the LC, UCL and FA cup which sees us winning pots at the end surely that is all that matters. Further if we do put in good performances that will IMO be a bonus. I don't care is that first goal was onside or not or whether Liverpool got the wrong decisions that has happened to us so many times I have ceased worrying about it.

For the press, media and so called pundits they can all fuck off.

I think everyone can see that we gave you the hardest game you've ever had at the Etihad. 2-1 the final score was. Not 4-1, not 5-1, not 7-0.

And it isn't even the scoreline. Up until the final whistle we could have equalised and had chances. We matched you in everything you did.

I think the reason why everyone's impressed is because this period for us has been labelled as being "the test". The point where we see just how good we really are. And on THAT performance, id say a) we're one of the most exciting teams to watch, and b) if we can keep that level of performance up. We're in a really good position for top four and possibly even more.

We're playing with NO fear. We took the game to you guys.

Bring on Chelsea! We're going to fuck all over Mourinho's record at the Bridge.

P.S boy am I looking forward to the return leg at Anfield
