City v Liverpool Post Match Thread

Yesterday was our worst home performance this season, worse than Bayern or Hull. We never needed to get out of 4th gear and still held out fairly easily. I'm expecting the red Scouse to fall away now. Doubt they'll make the top four never mind win the league.

Well Mr Rodgers, regarding the "referee" from Greater Manchester, who you seem to allege was biased in City's favour, especially regarding Suarez's continual histrionics.

A few of us undertook a "Skrtel watch" every time there was a corner at either end.

At EVERY City corner, he had both arms round a City player, usually Kompany, trying to pull him down . According to the laws of the game, a penalty. Surprisingly, none given. City bias there, Mr R?

From a completely unbiased (ahem) City point of view, Lee Mason is one of the worst referees in the game. Remember the League Cup semi final where Johnson did a double footed, off the ground, "tackle" on Lescott, and didn't even receive a booking? This, of course, came just after Kompany's red against the rags where there was no contact. Guess who was the referee?

In yesterday's game, it seemed to me that he went out of his way to give Liverpool free kicks for "fouls", and ignoring identical challenges the other way. Great game though, DESPITE Lee Mason.

And don't get me started about that odious, cheating, diving,(biting), whinging twot that is Suarez. (Those points listed are merely his better ones).

Rant over, and good morning to all viewers.

I think everyone can see that we gave you the hardest game you've ever had at the Etihad. 2-1 the final score was. Not 4-1, not 5-1, not 7-0.

And it isn't even the scoreline. Up until the final whistle we could have equalised and had chances. We matched you in everything you did.

I think the reason why everyone's impressed is because this period for us has been labelled as being "the test". The point where we see just how good we really are. And on THAT performance, id say a) we're one of the most exciting teams to watch, and b) if we can keep that level of performance up. We're in a really good position for top four and possibly even more.

We're playing with NO fear. We took the game to you guys.

Bring on Chelsea! We're going to fuck all over Mourinho's record at the Bridge.

P.S boy am I looking forward to the return leg at Anfield

I fear that was your cup final

Without trying to sound like an arrogant prick, I had the same feeling. If Liverpool could play like that for 38 games they'd be contenders but I think they were really up for the occasion yesterday. Let's see how they play on Sunday.

Yesterday's result wasn't to dissimilar to the result v Burnley at Xmas, during the league winning season under KK. Not because we scored a load of goals that day, or the performance was on a par of that day, but Burnley like Liverpool were bang on form and flying high, and the result sent out a statement, just like I feel the result yesterday has, a long with a return to form of Joe.

The message is "be afraid prem league teams, because we are now on a roll, and are going to take some stopping."

Quinn on talksh*t still banging on about the "penalty" for Suarez and conveniently overlooking Skirtl's attempts to remove Vinny's shirt all night long .
It's all a bit sad and bitter and does them no credit after such a cracking game.
As much as I don't like Quinn, he mentioned the above but has since stated that City could have had two pens for Skirtl's shirt pulling.

does the goalkeeper play any part in the offside rule or not then i thought if you were behind him you were off or has all that changed ?

You played out of your skins, at your peak...we certainly didn't. Nor did you give us the hardest game 'ever' at the Etihad....not even this season (Bayern) so sorry to burst that bubble, but it's simply untrue....
