City v Liverpool - Post Match Thread

Did anyone think we were particularly Barca ish by the way ?

I didn't. I thought we were often quite direct.

We are adapting to be able to play different styles & did crosses & a header, which I'm delighted about.

As Kamara commented on GOS, the way we took them apart when they went down to 10 men was a very Barcaesque thing to do and stems from the way Pep wants his team to pass the ball. However, we are not a case of Pep simply trying to turn us into a clone of his old team. He has evolved and continues to evolve how his team(s) play and he is adapting that to the league we are in. Comparisons and similarities to Barca are inevitable because both teams have a way of playing that is underpinned by the same principles but there are plenty of differences; which TBH I can see more easily than I can (be bothered to try and) describe.

rat boy showing his true colours again , i suppose when you a Rag its the hope that kills you , Shearer , Wright and Crispboy all saying they would have gone for the same ball Mane attempted , well all three would have been sent off , its not even debatable if Ballotelli had made the same challenge he would be looking at a prison sentence
Yup! ^^^^

Begs belief that pros think this wasn't a red or that "the game has changed." And Wio's tweet of him doing same thing to a forward and claiming it wasn't even called a foul is merely testament to how United have always got away with mugging on the field.

Accidental but a straight red for me all day long as reckless and clearly dangerous. But one of the most telling things i noticed from the so called experts on MOTD was that wright said Mane was trying to dink the ball over Edison. Which can only mean that he knew Edison was there. That doesn't mean it was intentional just that he knew he where he was and so clearly a reckless challenge for the ball. TBH I was surprised by the responses of Lineker.

All I said was people on stretchers get boo'd off. It's happened. It will continue to happen. Nature of the beast. You are right though, normally for that length of time applause is the norm. Normally.
I've genuinely never seen that reaction to an injury that looked quite so serious. The ones that go on that long with oxygen etc, aren't terribly frequent but like blueinsa, I never remember being present at one when a set of fans has reacted like that. And it wasn't a tiny minority, it was significant numbers. Realistically that could have been a situation where Ederson had a fractured skull or had swallowed his tongue and was getting booed and abused. I had no time for liverpool or their arsehole fans anyway but even I would never have expected that reaction from them.

Mendy is a beast, he has presence, pace and is always looking for the easy quick ball or the cross straight into the box.
His 1-2 with Leroy was amazing.
Worth every penny so far. Long may he continue. He's only going to get better IMO.

They have always been the worst scum for me, but years ago, if a group of Liverpool fans had started doing that, they would likely have been shouted down by the older ones.

Seems they have just scum now & no decent ones left.

Has anybody got a link to Aguero's disallowed goal? The fact that it wasn't repeated on Sky (or included in their highlights package) is odd to say the least.

The cross and the finish were too good to be ignored. Same for the Jesus offside header.

And which ex-PL ref thought it should be a yellow card for dangerous play? Oh, yes, cheating Clattenburg still biased against us.
