Just got in. A good night!
Looking at this game in isolation, we played well dominated and looked a class above Liverpool tonight.
Looking at this game compared to how we can play at our best we are quite a way off at the moment. We still look a bit unfit, and switched off a few times, defended a bit strangely a few times. And that's quite frightening because when we really hit our straps we're going to be fantastic.
Still got Kun and Fernando to get back to full fitness and we've not even seen our star signing if the Summer yet (Mangala). So give us month and we'll be awesome!
I felt Liverpool wouldn't be as strong this season. Not even thinking about the effect the Champions League will have, as it's not even started yet (which will make them a much different side over the season), but last year the whole 25th anniversary made it a very emotional year for them and they fed off it as a team and set of fans. As soon as 2014 came around the anniversary was being talked about. I think the whole lot of them got swept up in it all and they were riding on a wave of emotion. That came to a peak against us at Anfield. But there were about twenty minutes in the second half in that game where we showed that they weren't as good as their position suggested.
This year they won't have that sweeping emotion and I just see them being a 4th/5th placed team. A realistic position for them.
Loved some of the chants in the second half, after a very quiet first half from us (after the first two or three minutes of usual initial singing from the first kick off).
