City v Liverpool Post Match

I think the 'sluggishness' people pick up on isn't so at all, we try to slow games down and dictate the pace then ramp it up as and when, that is when we tend to score, rather than running round at a fast tempo all game we pick moments and overwhelm teams, it's very difficult to implement but we do it well!

Good performance tonight. I thought the first half was pretty even, though as soon as the fist goal went in, it was game over, as the Scousers never looked like threatening a comeback.

Both Jovetić and Fernando were my outstanding players in the first half, and they carried it on right to the end, well until the 80th minute in Stevan's case. Clichy and both centre-backs were superb too, but that's not to say there weren't other great performances, as there were.

Jovetić's goals rightly earned him MotM, but I believe, based on his first two games, Nando will prove to be a fantastic signing. He was everywhere and I noticed that if Vinnie roamed forward, he would drop back to cover at CB. He is an upgrade on both NdJ and Javi. He's like Nigel with pace and will stop a lot of opposition attacks.

Jovetić IS like a new signing and will take a lot of pressure off Sergio's shoulders, and with Beast being out injured and Kun slowly returning to full fitness, it's great that he's started the season so well.

Džeko seems to have been working on trapping and controlling the ball; he was much better tonigh than I ever remember him before in those departments. YaYa had a quiet first-half, but came into his own much more after the break and dominated the mourners' midfield.

Such a dominant performance against the team that won the title in April will send out an ominous message to every team in the League, and I doubt as many people have Chelsea as their favourites now.

Another hard luck story from the candle lighters . they dominated for 40 minutes apparently , just like they dominated the premiership until april , maybe they should look at their manager of the year , perhaps he cant motivate the players unless theres a minutes silence and few wreaths knocking about.
We won in a canter , never got out of 2nd gear , the difference is when we go 2 goals down , we fight , unlike the surrender monkey scousers.

There really is the most bizzare thought train around scouseland and this season is going to sort the men from the boys as far as Rodgers is concerned too.

Liverpool still look like an opening twenty minute team, opening 40 minutes at best. What makes the whole thing so amusing is the scouse attitude that because they were really fast for 20 minutes they deserved something from the game. Rodgers of course is happy to perpetuate the myth to shield from his own inadequacies.

Furthermore, they still can't fucking defend! Does he think defending is below this Liverpool side? Does he think a 20 minute blitz will always work? Does he really believe his own crap about how teaching a team to be defensive is easy?

The fact he was mentioned in higher regard than Pellegrini last season was an insult. Unless he shows some major development this season he's nowhere close.

great performance overall , very happy with the signing of fernando, Jovetic was a bit iffy in the first half with slowing down the counter attacks but wow second half what a performance and 2 deserved goals, and great to see Aguero score in just 23 seconds after coming on, he is key to retaining our title. did he watch the same match as us?

He has rapidly become my most hated man in football, he really is a wanker.

Nah - Wenger is worse in my view, an utter utter cnut who’d I’d happily watch drown.

I dont know,Tactical Turtle made an early effort to take the crown this season with his defence of Ashley the diving twat on Sunday.

The lad is amazing. Kompany must be loving having him in front of the back 4, there were several times that the commentators over here got Nando mixed up with Vinnie as he was right in there doing the dirty work after Vinnie had pushed on and been caught out.

Love him.

The media have built rodgers up to be some sort of messiah , when in fact his teams are so predictable , if they dont score in the first 20 minutes , they have no idea , clueless , they have no Plan B , i actually think if they got a decent manager like Ancellotti then they would be a big threat , But while the irish maestro is in charge they will win nowt , which at least would be fair reflection on his illustrious career so far , his massive play off final victory for swansea.

Good performance from us.....As we expect from Liverpool they'll play well for about 30mins but then fade away.

Fernando was fantastic, love his positional awareness and the way he drops in central defence when Kompany or DM going surging forward/drift out of position......Should we have any injury issues at the back I'm sure he'll be an able replacement.

Jovetic, well we've all been expecting it from him. I can't wait to see both him and Sergio start a game up top together.

Stirling does appear to have it in him to be great player but in order to fulfill that potential he'll need to move on from Liverpool as (much like their whole team) he becomes ineffective after 30mins. I think the rest of the world will realise that Rogers isn't as great as was being made out last season, his transfer policy seems to be along the lines of throw enough balls at enough coconuts and we'll win a prize.

One minor gripe from the game and that is why Can wasn't shown a second yellow for that blatant dive?

that could be a new one in football tactics lol. CB overlapping with the DM the same way our fullbacks do with the attacking players. Vin might do some damage!
