There's very little to gain from playing the scum in the final. Win and the press will hardly mention it and jst say it's all pre-season nonsense, lose and Van Gaal is the new Messiah, if he isn't already. We'd have no end of it.

And then there's the risk of injuries. If they make the final, I hope we don't. Seems ridiculous saying that, but there you go.

Not sure about that, Chippy.

Whilst United aren't that important to us any more, beating them would be fun and knock their confidence. And if we lose then we take the piss about them organising an open top bus, releasing a DVD etc.

Doesn't really matter.

If we beat Pool tonight there is a huge chance it will be City-MU in the final.
We would be nearly sure to top the group (unless a loss to Olympiakos in last round) while they also seems like finish top.

Btw a win is 3 points, loss is 0 p., if its a draw it goes to pens instantly, if you win it then its 2 points, if you lose on pens its still 1 point.

Whilst I really want to win the tournament I wouldn't want to play United in the final, it just doesn't feel right having a derby in pre season and in another country.

Whoever wins tonight will get to the final for me although Olympiacos have been a surprise in the tournament so you never know what they could do to us, however with Liverpool looking ahead of us fitness wise with them playing close to a full strength team this week and with us only having a selection of first team players back at the weekend I can see us struggling a bit tonight, maybe not going forward but defensively.

Play the reserves, get our best players home early to get over the jet lag.

No need for us to highlight their weaknesses.

There's also the possible benefit of humiliating them in front of a sizeable chunk of their 659m global [but non-attending] support base. If there's one thing the American psyche doesn't tolerate, it's backing losers.

I don't know whether to go to bed in an hour, get up watch the match and get my head down for a few more hours before getting up for work at 530....
Hmm it's a tricky one.....

We might humiliate them, we might lose. We would be playing them with a half strength team that will be knackered from all of the conditioning work that is taking priority. With numerous substitutions. Could go either way. The winning team will provide bragging rights for their fans. That's all. As far as the players of both sides are concerned it would just be another meaningless pre season friendly. Of even less significance than the 2011 Community Shield.
