City v PL | Legal Dispute/Appeal

If it’s anything to do with premier ffp they can get to fcuk when Gill makes the rules changes rules without anyone saying anything! Bottom line they after us because they are bitter fucks

No, clubs don’t regular go to the Court of Appeal over PL internal disputes. It’s definitely unusual. I’m not saying we should panic. But personally, I don’t like the look of it.

Don’t they usually make a big deal of announcing a punishment and then you get to appeal to them and later the courts if there’s not a satisfactory outcome? Can’t recall a case in football where it was being reviewed at an appeal court before the original verdict was even announced/known.

Given that, and on the presumption that the time-barred aspects of the CAS case are what we might now need to worry about, can you briefly remind us what the key issues were? Also, what stage of whatever proceedings are we at?

Yeah that last bit kind of fits. Academy/youth player stuff. We've run into trouble for that before. Highly doubt any of the financial stuff still holds, because it couldn't hold in court vs UEFA, so it is most likely Prem cannot do anything about it either.

I tried reading it again but it gave me a headache.

The Academy stuff was FIFA related and was sorted with a (relatively) small fine, the FA were also fined because they advised that we were proceeding correctly (along with Chelsea who got a fine and transfer ban for their sheer scale of transgressions).

The Sancho case was dismissed and there was a lad from South America who we were getting threatened with civil court about but that was nonsense and went away.

Surely the Ghanian lads would be UEFA or FIFA?

I wonder if the dispute is about information to do with the premier league looking at finances, we’ve been reluctant to disclose and we’ve been told by the lower court to provide it.

If they’re asking for commercially sensitive information and that information is then available to parties connected to our competitors then that may link into the argument that there’s institutional bias in the process?

Yeah my mate has become an FFP and sports law expert due to our CAS case and he said that it's pretty much impossible to break PL law without breaking the UEFA law with regards to FFP. The only way it's related to FFP and PL have a legitimate case is if the time barred allegations in the CAS case are admissible in this one.
And if I’m not mistaken, some (maybe all) of that time-barred stuff pre-dates the introduction of FFP in the Premier League
