their own fans used to call themselves the rags before the war light heartedly , but they dont like other teams fans calling it them , especially CityI honestly didn’t know there was a specific reason they were called rags, I just took it to be a generic insult meaning dirty scruffy horrible scumbags.
Regardless, for as long as I can remember we’ve referred to them as rags in my family and I’ve heard the term used countless times at the match
Got to be better than M****h Bastards which we all used to call, ashamed now but I did.Every single person I know .. all proper mancs .. calls them rags

Home or away? Never heard one song with Rags in it, probably a reason for that. How bizarre. I've never been to a derby and not heard it.
Where's your seat?
Really ?????I’ve been attending City matches for 50 years and I’ve never referred to them as ‘Rags’.
Don’t believe everything you read on here. Bluemoon has never been a particularly accurate sample of blues IMHO.
Weird....RAGS !!! All City fans say it !!! Unless you're a RAG ?Home or away? Never heard one song with Rags in it, probably a reason for that.
The reason being that rags isn't a particularly abusive term just one that conveys mild derision. Songs sung at / about them usually have a nastier edge to them and so different terms are used.Home or away? Never heard one song with Rags in it, probably a reason for that.
