Attending fans were a credit to themselves, shows what an atmosphere can be generated at the etihad.

We lacked a spark after Silva went off. Kelechi couldn't get involved and aguero was isolated.

Can't fault the workrate or attitude.

Raheem would have been substituted on any Sunday park for some/all of his touches after he came on. Protect him all you want, he's just no good
 
Not a bad result in the end. Apart from between 70-85 mins when Madrid were well on top it was very evenly matched and cagey. Hart and Kompany were immense and I thought the ref was excellent
 
No they weren't there for the taking thats what the media want you to believe dont fall for it! Madrid have squad full of experience internationals, it was more of a tactical game with madrid making sure they didn't concede an early goal first half and Pellegrini making a big mistake with the sub that played into Madrids hands.

0-0 is a good result all to play for in madrid with the pressure all on them.
 
They might go for it at home but that will leave us with more chances to hit them on the counter, score a goal then make sure we at least draw and we're through.

Going 442 was wrong but changing Navas for Sterling was ludicrous. Navas defends and retains the ball. He was the only one of the 4 midfielders who wasn't so physically exhausted that they couldn't even make the right decisions any longer. This is where our squad is severely lacking ... No one better than Navas out wide.

Still could do it though. One day it could all just click.
 
Not conceding tonight was far more important than taking a slender lead to Madrid.

Them having Ronaldo and Benzema back and being at home means they will be more attacking and that will give us chances on the counter attack.

We score over there and the pressure is well and truly on them. Just look how it affected PSG in the last round.
 
The substitutions nearly cost us. Nacho not good enough to play "in the hole" and Navas who IMO had a very decent game (hardly gives ball away) comes off for Sterling who was a bit lacklustre when he came on.

All to play for next week now.

0-0 vs "Real Madrid" sounds good but not when you look at the team tonight. They will be delighted with the result.

Their attack is weak but equally our midfield is weak and we lost our only driving force through the middle when KDB got shunted out wide. Sterling wasn't great when he came on but not keeping KDB in the centre was just baffling. He was pretty easily squeezed out of the game after the switch.

Quite disappointed. We should be going there with a couple of goals lead. Gonna take a mammoth effort now and a huge bit of luck to get through

Its not like Isco and James wernt available, he just dint play them. Benzema played 45 and mind you Jese was way better than him. This is Madrid they have quality players who can replace players. Tranny is a factor but you cant factor a two goal lead for us just cos he isnt playing. This isnt CSKA. Its such a refreshing chance to not see us demolished like in the past against Barcelona, Dortmund and others. Hart in those game kept ghe scoreline below 5 but today we have shown Europe we can compete with the best.
