City v Real Madrid post match

Bale can be a game changer but Ronaldo is even more of one so if he remains absent, it won't harm our chances. Either way, we need to deny such players space to turn and run plus work hard to cut their supply lines.

As good as their players are and they are, I'm more afraid of the ref next week, especially if Bayern do the business and book their place in Milan.

If the present alternative is Kolarov then I'll take Clichy every time.....

Horses for course for me. If you want someone who can attack a bit, but is useless at defending = Kolarov. If you want someone who's inept going forward, Clichy is your man. Neither of them should play regularly imho. Backup squad players at best. CL semi-final starter? Good God no.

If we had to have a draw then 0-0 is the best 1 possible. Now a scoring draw will do for us. We need to keep it as tight as possible over there for as long as possible, and try to sneak a goal in the last 5minutes or so, to win the game.

Overall felt very disappointed with the game itself, the pre-match atmosphere and flag waving was about the only good thing from last night.

I understand why fans are trying to put a brave face on the drab 0-0 result, but let's face it, Real will most likely put 3 or 4 past us at their ground, so tonight was a missed opportunity to at least take a lead with us and have something to fight for, rather than just meekly surrender, like we did last night.

Nurse. A nappy needs changing here.

Really? I think he's average to poor. He works hard enough and can defend a bit, but honestly is that really all we can expect from a left back playing for a team trying to compete at the top table?

Really? He marked the most expensive player in history out of the game, so much so that he swapped wings at half time. Kept a clean sheet and looked under no trouble against one of the top 3 sides in the world and you think that's evidence of "average to poor"?

I think you've been playing too much FIFA or watching too many YouTube clips of Roberto Carlos free kicks if you want loads more from a full back.

His job is to defend, keep possession and give it to our talented creative players so they don't have to worry about defending. He's been doing an absolutely superb job of that since he came back from injury.

I second that..

Yup and he is quite simply the most consistent defender in English football.

I think you're wrong. Yaya's best role nowadays, the shape that has been most successful for us away in Europe, and the one I hope we play against Madrid away is this:

(Assuming Silva isn't fit)
Sagna.......Otamendi......Kompany.......Clichy
.......................Fernando
..........Yaya....................Fernandinho
Navas...................................KDB
......................Aguero

So Yaya not replacing one of the Ferns, or playing as a number 10. He's playing as a box to box number 8 in a 433, with the protection of Fernandinho alongside him, and Fernando behind them both.

Madrid are going to come to attack us, we'd have to sit a bit deeper than normal, but we'd be absolutely devastating on the break.

Going to have to agree with you again. That formation also should allow Dinho to provide some cover for KDB when he fails to track back diligently enough; although Kev will need to be really on the case in that regard.
