City v Saints post match

nothing to really do with systems the individual errors that players are making...Kolorv slicing one into his own net and stones mishitting a back pass have nothing to do with playing 4 a the back or even playing out from the back

Players are making individual errors because they are under more pressure than they were say under Mancini. If you just hoof it al la Lescott you are not under pressure. If you are told to keep the ball alive and start an attack from virtually inside your own box despite having Luis Suarez on your case then you get nervous and make mistakes.

Performance today was utterly poor. Sane og gundo way off pace and passing. Silva kdb aguero sterling all out of shape cost us point today and against Everton.

Hope pep can turn this around soon..

Why are we reverting to type in this thread and concerning ourselves with what's happening to a small club down the road???

Of more concern to me today was our regression towards last seasons shambles. At times when we had the ball today players seemed to be doing their utmost to run away from it. In 1 week we went from the team I dreamed of watching as a City supporter back to turgid slow nonsense.

I do give credit to Southampton, and Everton, in the last 2 weeks for being tough to crack. That said with the talent we have the team must do better.

The last point I'll make - if we could somehow keep a clean sheet (we have 4 this season, 2 of which were against Steaua) that'd really help the situation.
Absolute bollocks, if you do not relish the rags getting rinsed, you are not from the Manchester area, the crap I used to have to take when we were crap was horrible, so you can stick you reverting to type where the sun don't shine :-)

Thanks for that, we will be fine, I am not sure that all these pseudo tactical geniuses know what they are talking about :-)

The mentality when we make basic errors for a lot of fans is play a back 4 and just clear the bloody ball, it ain't happening period they need to get used to it. Some players will adapt some won't but you can't have a half way house. Peps problem is that different players are making basic errors if it was 1 ot 2 he could take them out but he needs to see who can adapt.

Well if they can't adapt they won't be here long because this isn't going to change. They look very uncomfortable with it though. The midfield two of Fern and Gundogan need to be showing more and turning more quickly when they do get it. Gundogan in particular is too slow in his pass at times

that aint going to change so you are going to have to get use to it...pep wants players to play that way and for the most it brings great football.

He has also said there is a time for long balls up the pitch as well.

Bravos mistake can be attributed to pep playing out form the back but how many times have you seen misplaced back passes from centre halves in teams that don't play out from the back.....answer...all the time

Nobody's against Pep, but fans are entitled to question today's performance. That performance is a result of players AND management. Have a great game, then Pep and the team get praise. Have a bad game then Pep and the team get criticism. Pep cannot be excluded from criticism surely?

But I repeat, I don't believe anybody is against Pep (or the team).
read the thread. It's full of would be managers who think they know better.

Seriously we need to get behind the man, cos hearing booing is the start of a slippery slope.

Yes, and opponents know we are still learning to play this system - so they're primed to try and hurry us and force a mistake.
None of us know what's actually being said in the dressing room, so this 'playing out from the back AT ALL COSTS' is probably hyperbole, but we do seem to be playing as though it were true!
I like to hope Pep is saying 'if it's possible to play out from the back, do so - but otherwise, play it safe' and thus it's just our decision making on when it's appropriate or not that needs work. If it's true that we're playing out from the back at all costs - then I have no problem in sticking my head above the parapet and saying that's madness (even if Pep wants it).

We also played the ball far too slowly[/QUOTE]

I think that's probably our biggest weakness, to me it seemed to be the main difference between us and Barcelona. But that's down to some of the players we've got, rather than our style of play - I suppose Pep will be looking to get players in who can complete the jigsaw.
