City v Southampton post match thread

Great first 5 mins, poor next 30 then got better again. Controlled the second half thanks to a good substitution.

Silva was superb. Dzeko decent and Kompany good. Other than that the others were so/so.

Zabaleta was awful. Diving in every time, stupid penalty to give away and just not at it at all today, especially first half.

Kolorov was also poor first 30 mins but got better.

Win next week and it's in the bag for me.

Kolarov was able to get forward because Garcia covered up the acres that had been left vacant in the first half. Zabaleta has looked tired in the last few games, unsurprisingly, and we're probably going to have to play Navas or Milner ahead of him to offer support in the games ahead.

Gold solid 3 points could have been anything from 9-1 to 3-2.

Southampton reminded me of Norwich from the late 70's look great but fuck all end product.

Would have liked to see Milner on for an ineffective Navas when the time was a little tight and a Beast goal would have got my scorecast and correct score bets in but time to roll onto Candle town. A result there and the fat lady will be warming up.

Ya Ya diving and then hitting his own player (Demichelis) was terrible, he was actually lucky not to be sent off. Then he argued with Zabaleta. He has to grow up. Sulking for the rest of the match, thank goodness there were only about 5 minutes left to play.

All in all this was a good match, Southampton didn't come to be walked over, they put up a fight.

David Silva was, once again, superb and Zaba gave his all. Demichelis is making up for his poor matches earlier on. Dzeko is fighting harder for the ball these past few matches

I worry about Silva's ankles after these matches, he gets kicked around something shocking and the refs don't seem to do anything about it.

I enjoyed that game.

Zabaleta was poor.

What the fuck Yaya was playing at I don't know. That last 5 mins he was an accident waiting to happen. Could easily have been sent off.

Second half was good but the first was an absolute shocker, we made Southampton look like Bayern Munich at times and had they had the spark in the final third they could have seen us off.

Our second goal, the Silva offside, that deflated Southampton for me.

Silva was immense again, feel sorry for Negredo, and Nasri was better today.

Three points is all that matters of course but I fear if we play like we did in the first half against Liverpool we will get battered.

Good win overall Blues.

Great win against a very good side. Really impressed with our resolve and resilience, class showed in the end but it wasn't easy. I thought we were very fortunate to be 3-1 up after they bossed the first half. Some good performances but Silva again was superb again.Thought Navas worked incredible hard both in defence and forward and Edin unlucky not to get a hatrick. One more thing, we need to cut out the petulence from certain players, refs will be on the look out and it could end up being costly. Also would be nice to have some support from the fans.

Three-one flattered us at the break but we were so much better in the second half that four-one didn't flatter us at the end and we really should have bumped up the goal difference by a few more.
Have I mentioned Chris Foy is a cock-womble? No, OK Chris Foy is a cock-womble.
And a big "FUCK OFF YOU TOSSERS" to those that couldn't be bothered today and to the many thousands who allowed some of the best players on the planet to perform in front of empty seats for the final five minutes. It finished 135 minutes earlier than usual so where the f*ck were you going that was so important?
As for BT Sport; obviously I didn't see their coverage but Liverpool's armchair support is probably five to ten times bigger than ours and them winning the league will generate significantly more viewers and therefore significantly more advertising revenue. Scouse wankers - the lot of 'em.

well said. once one goes they all follow like sheep. club needs to sort out these fire drills.

4-1 against Southampton (the biggest game-raisers against top sides in the league... except maybe Pulis' Palace now) is a brilliant result, even if slightly fortuitous. It really could have turned ugly after they scored, we looked second best. Those two goals at the end of the 1st half effectively killed the game and we outclassed them in the 2nd half.

Silva was great at usual. Fernandinho strangely poor though and Pellegrini was good to make the change.

Where was every one? The stadium looked 3/4 full.

On here shitting our knickers ;)
It was definitely the emptihad today. As for all the talk of people leaving early, well it's becoming a full scale evacuation - verging on the ridiculous.

£62 a ticket I got quoted.

Not impressed by Shaw, still to see anything to justify the hype. Overlapped well and got in good positions, but didn't get a cross anywhere near a teammate and was very suspect defensively. Got a long way to go before he's the player that the media seem to think he is imo

It was one game. If you've watched him throughout the season then you will know how good he is. Never mind the fact he is only 18 and is first choice prem rb and an England rb

He's neither a right back nor and England player.
