Three-one flattered us at the break but we were so much better in the second half that four-one didn't flatter us at the end and we really should have bumped up the goal difference by a few more.
Have I mentioned Chris Foy is a cock-womble? No, OK Chris Foy is a cock-womble.
And a big "FUCK OFF YOU TOSSERS" to those that couldn't be bothered today and to the many thousands who allowed some of the best players on the planet to perform in front of empty seats for the final five minutes. It finished 135 minutes earlier than usual so where the f*ck were you going that was so important?

well said. once one goes they all follow like sheep. club needs to sort out these fire drills.

Really strange atmosphere today considering the importance of the game, perhaps it was the early kick off but we seem to have a lot of season ticket holders who don't give a fcuk and a lot of fans who prefer to get home early.
Something you don't see at Anfield or dare I say the swamp.
It goes on at every ground.

Got to be pleased with the result and excellent 2nd half performance which we dominated. Once again we showed our resolve and ability to take a hit and come storming back which is encouraging. Southampton might play some nice football but they lack punch up front. Silly penalty to concede by Zabba who had a fairly indifferent match, MDM was solid again, Silva was superb, Dzeko was involved in all of our first 3 goals despite looking a bit lumbering at times so should be commended too. I did think after we scored so early that we'd kick on and hump them but we sat off, got outnumbered in midfield and struggled to get any possession for most of the rest of the first half. Jovetic keeps looking good when he comes on, he has more movement than others and next season we should see the best of him. Nasri got a ripping on the match day thread in the 1sr half but was involved in a lot of our best moments.
All in all, a good result and 2nd half was much more like us.

Am I the only person who thinks we play much better with 2 strikers? I know they were chasing the game when Jovetic came on, but we looked far more of a threat.

Anyway, poor first half, but really good second half today. They really went for it. Were fortunate with a couple of decisions today, but I guess it makes a change. Personally, I thought both penalties were soft.

As for BT Sport; obviously I didn't see their coverage but Liverpool's armchair support is probably five to ten times bigger than ours and them winning the league will generate significantly more viewers and therefore significantly more advertising revenue. Scouse wankers - the lot of 'em.

some people work sat morning.....most grounds are not full 12.45 kick offs...oh and probably because them that do work, were not there, the atmosphere was shit...

Thought 4 - 1 flattered us a little given the amount of play Southampton had particularly in the first half and we appeared a bit fortunate with the second goal as Silva looked about 2 yards offside from where we were. Against that, Southampton didn't actually create much from all of their possession, but they do knock it about nicely. Would certainly like to see Shaw at City next season and Lallana is an excellent player but, like lots of other players, just not sure who he would replace, and he must think that too.

Don't like being critical of Yaya, but he definitely had 'one of those days' when you were just hoping and praying he wouldn't get sent off. About time David a Silva was afforded some protection from the referee, every time had had the ball the Southampton players were queueing up to take their turn to foul him. Amazingly, not one of them received a yellow card, and guess what, they carried on doing it. It would appear that a nothing handball in the oppositions half is more serious than continually and cynically trying to stop a player influencing the game. Unfortunately it appears that this has now become the default method of every team we play. Quite how the little wizard keeps going is beyond me.

Soton played extreme tactics

Never seen a team push that high up the pitch. Often their back line was on the half-way line, and occasionally even further up the pitch

It allowed them possession in our half, but was very very dangerous tactic

By the end of the game, we should have scored more than 4, but it was a good exciting game. Some fantastic quality from City. Silva was at his best. When he's like that there isn't a player anywhere who can touch him

Just got in after the game. Southampton are a good team, we did'nt match them 1st half. Never pressed them enough and only are better players got us a 3 -1 lead . 2nd half was so much better even though we only scored 1 goal.

Back to work my little cock-womble
I will light a candle in your grand honor when I finish tomorrow morning at daft a clock
I do however love a good hero story
City are indeed honored to have you as a citizen
Here have a medal u fucking clown

You have to look at what Soton did in that 1st half. Their back 4 were pushed up so high that they managed to play the game in our half, but it was very very high risk.

City played a good game. Some of the quality from Silva, Yaya, Kolarov etc was exceptional.

Soton had possession, but they had 1 shot on target.....the pen. whereas City could have scored a lot more.
