City v Spurs Prematch Discussion

Can't wait for kick off. Feeling more optimistic today, got a sneaky feeling we may just put on a show and finally give someone a bit of a pasting. Said 2-1 yesterday but, and it may be my hang over talking, going to change that to a convincing 4-0 victory, with Aguero being the star of the show.

This article has made me a little nervous. Hopefully VK will be in top form.

Why would we boo Ade, he didn't necessarily do anything wrong... There's more reason to boo Tevez ffs...

Adebayor's greatest "crime" as a City player was that he was desperate to play and do well for the club. Tevez...

Ade's 19 goals in 43 appearances (many as a sub) still looks to be a good haul.

Normally, a visiting manager would be too scared to come to the Etihad and play a 4-4-2, but after Spurs showing against Maribor in the EL (excellent performance, I took the time to view it and scout our opposition), I think AVB will come to attack and deploy Defoe, Ade, Bale and Lennon. Bale and Defoe were sensational, so I hope our backline and Joe are ready for a challenge.

This match will tell us a lot about what is, or isn't, going on at the club. I can live with a draw, but a loss at home would be hard to cope with. Very interested to see which formation Mancini will employ and how he attempts to deal with the threat of Bale bombing down the wing (too bad Milner is unavailable).

Agree with all of that, adebayor and game assessment.

A draw would be a disappointment though. Title-winning teams should surely expect to win every home game and be disappointed with any other result. We won 18 of 19 last season ffs, so we should be gutted with a draw.

The point made earlier about our fixtures is so very true as well. Draw or lose today and we are 4 or 5 points behind. Going into the Derby then, looking at the fixtures, I would expect us to be maybe 7 or 8 points behind. Lose that and the title is gone. We can't afford to let the rags open up a gap, so today is must win.

I should imagine that opening a box of corn flakes makes you nervous.

Never has a username been less apt.

I hope the article is flawed. I always rated Ade and in my view he's world class when he's up for it. I can see him giving our FB's a torrid time - at best - today.

I'm even more worried about Defoe, who is in a very rich vein of form. Hard to understand why Hodgson won't select him for England. I wouldn't be surprised to see AVB field a 4-4-1-1 with Ade behind Defoe. Maybe all of AVB's brave talk about coming to the Etihad and attacking is to mask his reverting back to the 4-2-3-1 he's employed for most of the season.

-- Sun Nov 11, 2012 12:53 am --

Tough crowd here, evidently...!

For me, the key is how will our defence cope with their front 4, how will their defence cope with our front 4. I fancy us to come out on top.

We know their fans are going to give us stick about the champions league, because they did better in their one champions league season, however, i think everytime they do we sing back to them "50 years, since you won the league". That should keep them quiet, along with a city win hopefully.

Stones and glass houses come to mind. I did say nervous rather than scared.
