City v Sunderland Post Match

Manager reaction

Man City 3-2 Sunderland

More from Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, speaking about Frank Lampard: "Nobody can be surprised with Frank Lampard. He is a top player with a huge amount of important goals in his career. When you use him in the second half, when players are tired, he knows exactly where to go and how to move. I always said that we would try to keep him for the rest of the season, it was not an easy decision but Frank is very happy to stay here and we need him here.

"I am very happy that New York City agree to leave him here until the end of the season. Maybe all the New York City fans want to see Frank Lampard playing and I understand. To see Lampard in New York is an amazing thing. I hope that he will be there next year but for now the best decision for everyone is for him to stay here."

What are you on about, it was a penalty. The ref had a poor game but he got that right.

Also even if we drew today, the gap would have been maximum 5 points (Chelsea havent played yet though although you seem to have given them the game already) dont be such a shit house there is a long way to go, we have been a lot worse positions than 5 points behind with 18 games to go and won the title.

I haven't given Chelsea the win I was talking about poor decisions in the last two games that could have cost us 4 points.

But it was a penalty today, and it didnt cost us in any case

Also 4 points with 18 games to go is nothing, you are taking out of your arse.

4 points is 4 points.

Remember out two most recent titles were won by less.

Its not nothing and I humbly suggest you talk out of your mouth.

Really need to tighten up the defense, hopefully the return of Kompany will help sort this out. Besides that fantastic attacking play from us, could have had 10 in the second half. Great 3 points and come on Spurs!

We're really bad at cruising through games when a couple of goals up. We're not as solid a side these last few games but I think that's largely down to there being no Kompany. Once he's back i think we'll be fine but it's still a worry at this moment. Great to get the win, now just hope Spurs do us a favour (they won't).

Yaya first goal was key. After that they had to abandon their 9 men in the box defending game plan. Yaya will be missed when he leaves for afcon.

We need somebody else with long range shooting when teams park the bus against us.

Two of our ex players scored vs us. Typical. And Our ex keeper had a great game.

Lampard is a great sub when we need goals. At his age to play whole matches all the time probably asking too much. But as a sub he is great.

Fuck me. We are awful at corners. I mean really shit. We need to poach Chelsea's coach.

We've been abject shit at them for years.

When we signed Barry, we all said thank god, finanally a player who can take decent corners. We turned him to shit. Then we signed Milner and said the same thing, with the same outcome. Here were two players who took excellent corners for Villa.

Now we have Silva, who beats the 1st man about once per season - just really really terrible - and Nasri is woeful as well. Kolarov is the only player who ocassionally takes a decent corner. The rest of them are utter garbage.

Yes silva isn't great with taking those but I'll give him a pass as he took that corner which led to the Dzeko equalizer in the famous QPR game.

And don't forget navas, I never seen him take a good corner. Kolarov hit them quite hard. The only one he took today, the ball went back to our keeper after 5 seconds lol. I'm just glad it didn't end up in our net.

Excellent result. Well chuffed.

Has Mr Wenger confirmed Frank's goal is acceptable?

He doesn't have the time at the moment. He is still forensically checking our accounts.

Never a penalty in a million years.

Why we don't have video replay is beyond me.

Would take 5 seconds to see it was outside the area.

Is football the last bastion to go without VR.

World game my ass.

These pathetic decisions will cause a side to lose a title if he hasn't already probably us this year.

Same with the rubbish off side decision on Sunday.

4 points it could have cost us enough to leave Chelsea home and dry.

FFS FA DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT , EVERY OTHER ELITE SPORT HAS.

Great result though and well played lads a win is a win despite the poor officiating.

There were not any poor decisions really today, the penalty was nailed on...the only "poor decisions" that might have cost us today were Zabba's daft lunge in the area that gave them their pen and our poor finishing decisions when we should have wrapped it up earlier.

Mate, not trying to call you out but outside the box?
