City Vs AjaxPost Game Discussion Thread

I think if he plays that same starting formation / team in the premier league we will steam roller most teams. We just need to have more concentration at champions league level. I also think that defeat in madrid losing two late goals dented our confidence in the champions league. Didn't think we played bad tonight.

Disgusting officiating! I don't believe we would have progressed, but the ref did all in his power to make sure we took an early shower. Fuming right now!

We were absolutely robbed by that bent referee but still should have won and created more chances. At this point a generic 4-4-2 would probably be more fruitful if we had the personnel, our system is stagnant and without Silva is borderline tedious at times as we seem to make creating chances as difficult as rocket science. This is probably why Mancini tried the 3-5-2, our normal system has been sussed out by too many teams and it's grind-grind-grind.
Normally I'd feel robbed, but I didn't think we played well enough to win.

The players perform much better in the Premiership and played the entire game as if there was 2 minutes left on the clock. Such a shame to lose a game to such a poor team. I feel if we had won it, we would have gone through

I thought against Dortmund and Real Madrid we were playing some special teams, and this was the Champions League so we need some special managerial input, but it is much simpler than that. It's just football as mancini says, and we are playing the occasion, not the game.

Bit disappointing that players who have proven themselves in the Premiership against some big odds should be over awed. Effectively that's what happened tonight

It took Dortmund 3 seasons to adapt. Let's hope we get a chance again next season

i've said before that bob's substitutions worry me, taking tevez off tonight was sheer madness.

agreed, he was the only one linking the play together and making things happen. why take him off for garcia when we needed a goal at west ham?

I still don't understand why I sit here thinking we played really well today (ok, I admit the 2 corners obviously not, but despite that...) and everyone else is slating us?

I thought Kompany looked back to his brilliant self, Nasty solid for a 19 yo, Yaya finally played well again, Tevez, Aguero, Nasri, Balo all working their socks off, Zaba absolute king...what did I miss?!

That's my thinking as well but this is bluemoon with half of the people who post are not blues what do you expect?!!

I am relieved to see I'm not the only one.

Robbed by the ref and linesmen however that shouldn't cloud the fact that we are simply not good enough in Europe.

No width, no pace, central midfielders with no engine or passing range.

Suddenly we are now trying to play a 4-3-3 where 2 of the mids, Barry and Garcia, are donkeys and we have no genuine pace and trickery out wide.

We seriously fucked up in the summer window and haven't addressed any of our obvious shortcomings. We will still truck along in the Prem but can't see us hitting any sort of decent form until we re-shape our squad once again.

We weren't good enough again tonight. Spent too much of the match playing at no tempo. Fuck knows what we do in training all week because our attacking play is going backwards. Relying on set pieces isn't good. Relying on desperate late goals isn't good. Relying on a piece of individual brilliance isn't good.

Very very big game against Spurs this weekend now. Can't see us taking more than a point.

Just once can't you just surprise me and give the team some sunshine on a cloudy day ;)

Pleeeease

No fucking chance, he'll never be happy until Mancini leaves. I'm actually beginning to think he's a Mourinho fan and not a City one.

Nah mate, Carlos ran his socks off and I reckon Bob had told him to do that and he would be hooked after 65 mins.

Saying that though, Dzeko did fook all for his 25/30 mins on the pitch.....
