City vs Bayern (Friendly) - Post Match Thread

I read the papers this morning and read transcript of Mourinho's post-match excuses. "This is not my team" just about summed it up. Sounds like City in contrast embraced the opportunity and played our football as we always do.

Really pleased for the young players. You have to make the most of limited opportunities and it sounds like they did.

Looked like a very open game from the City highlights.

I liked Bernardo Silva's performance. I love it when he drifts inside off that right wing. Probably a lot to talk about from that performance. So many young players with a lot of talent. We have to get these players into our first team. This is what will create a dynasty at City. It can happen but we will have to force it somehow. Not easy.

Bernardo has the ability and desire to become our best player in the next few years. Amazing close control, can beat a player, very good striker of the ball. But can't quite be talked about in same breath as David yet as his decision making and final ball not at the same standard. It's coming though. And finding his best position in our system will help.

After the first friendly against Dortmund i was wondering why i bothered burning the midnight oil watching the game , but last nights performance from our kids was well worth it , they were superb and played a fairly strong Bayern team off the park at times , their work rate was exemplary. We have so many promising players it is difficult to see how they will get their chances but that is why Pep is paid the big bucks , Diaz & Foden played with more attacking intent and had Bayern running scared , nice to see Nmecha otch a goal but he should of had the match ball on the night. We were defensively naive at times and expected more form Laporte as the senior centre back but it was his first game so may be give him some leeway , Garcia & Zichenko were calm and collected and can't really fault anyone , even Bravo made some vital saves to cap a very good performance from a youthful team that didnt look out of place against the German champions.

Watched the first half live and we were very unlucky to be 2 down, played very well and looked confident. Bernardo’s goal on half time was the turning point as it took away the sense of injustice and we went on from there.

Don’t think Mahrez will be too bad, turned ankle so it will just have swollen up a bit, could be a couple of weeks though which is a shame. I assume that’s why Pep then protected Leroy.

Played well 2nd half as well, although Robben and Coman started to get in behind us and create a few last ditch scrabbles in our 6 yard box. Considering the average age of the team we deserved the win. Foden I thought was superb til he did his hammy. Bolton was good again, and whilst Humphreys and Garcia got caught napping a couple of times without the ball, they were both excellent with it, playing the ball out with a fair amount of aplomb. Diaz was excellent first half, but ran into trouble a bit after the break, Zinchenko was quality as the pivot again, and Nmecha’s touch looked much more assured than it did 2 years ago. Bolton and Garcia have surely done enough on this tour to be drafted into the 1st team squad this season.

Bolton has looked very impressive, strong and fast.

They wont get much game tme atm so maybe a season on loan with a call back clause if we were in deep shit.In Garcias case Tosin needs to go as hes far better than him. Wonder if somethings in the pipeline as regards Tosin as didnt get time last night and throught he would. I like the idea of loans as it gives lads match experience but I also wonder how many could go down the wrong road not having the benefit of Peps coaching skills.Hes that good.
