City Vs Blackburn Post Match Discussion Thread

One thing I noticed yesterday was a very large number -maybe 15/20 or so - very long passes. 40 yards or more. Yaya in particular was pinging it around from the off.

Struck me as a deliberate tactic to move play across the park far more quickly.

It worked! Top performance.

"we did a good match. This is important."

Re: Silva vs Blackburn

I always think its commentators being lazy and picking an obvious choice for MOM, i thought silva was quiet second half and although the whole team played well I thought Zaba stood out for me.

It was Blackburn who were poor according to the media, that's the same Blackburn who won at the swamp.
Blackburn were very poor but then again City also made easy work of them and didnt give them chance to do anything.

Great game yesterday, the quick passing and moving from the first 3 months looks to have returned the last 3-4 games, and rather than making the lads a bunch of jibbering nervous wrecks(as the media and the City obsessed rag players would have us believe) the nearing of the end to the season, and the ultimate prize of lifting the PL trophy has galvanised the team who look like they believe it is their destiny to win the title.

The defence is looking rock solid (whichever combination Mancini picks) Silva seems to have his passing range again, we have a rampaging YaYa back, De Jong looking back to his destructive best, and most importantly, 3 strikers who look bang in form as we approach the run in. That strike for Balotelli yesterday was simply sublime, the way he fooled the defenders by looking towards the ball as he flicked it into the far corner. Dzeko with a good goal today, but the goal against Porto showed me he is feeling confident again with a calm finish, and of course Aguero, wonderful player, frightening to think he is just settling into the team and already has 20 goals for the season! In a strange way, Tevez being back may just be the catalyst for the strikers to stay focused and prove to the manager that he doesn't need to use him!

I noticed that too.

Worked very well and gave us that little bit of extra time and space to work openings. It needs wide players like Kolarov and AJ to work.

City have responded to the very defensive tactics of opponents

A lot of commentators said Blackburn were very poor and a pushover, but I didn't think that was true. We just kept the ball as well as we have done all season.

Moving like a well oiled machine into top gear, we are looking very strong and I can see a similar pattern to last year's run in emerging. Roberto seems to know just when to turn up the heat. Yaya being back in the middle is an ernormous plus....Looking good Blues.

I can't comment on the match as I don't remember any of it as I was really pissed, not even sure if I went to my seat or not.
