It's bad enough that reporters often show their ignorance of the rules, but it drives me up the wall when the 'expert analyst' in the commentary booth, who's usually a former professional player, is equally ignorant.

Many have their own agenda, had this been a united/liverpool goal, it wouldn't even have been mentioned as offside, being a pundit is easy, you just support the agenda you're asked to do.

I was a little nervous given our injuries and the fact that many newly promoted teams use a game against us as a cup final and we don't always take them as serious as we should, but we seemed very comfortable for most of the game, and some excellent game management in the 2nd half ensure for a rather boring but effective half, so I am pleased a couple of very tough games coming up now for us now

Listened to a couple of Bournemouth fans on the train coming home, they thought Bournemouth were shite today, picked the wrong formation (I agree there, they were too open at the start), but they thought they should have had more of a go at us, I thought that was their downfall, they should have been more defensive early on for me, allowing us to counter attack was a serious mistake from Howe, who incidentally I have a lot of time for. Interesting that perspectives from both sides can be so different.

Yes, it is sometimes interesting to hear how other fans view things.

I thought their pressing caused us some problems but it is very dangerous to come and have a go a City because, despite our perceived defensve frailties, you are more likely to get picked off by City than score against us. I thought their attempts to press us got less effective when Yaya dropped a little deeper: he is very difficult to dispossess and has a high degree of pass accuracy.

Howe is one to watch; although it is hard to envisage an Englishman managing City in the next ten years.

Oh I don't think he'll end up here, but I can see him in a top job somewhere.

If I was him (and no disrespect to Bournemouth) I'd be looking for experience in Spain, Germany, or Italy, he's doing a good job on the south coast for now, but there will be plenty looking at him in the next few years, not just in England.

The way Howe set up for me today put him in the Rodgers boat for me, naive at best.

However, the way Bournemouth moved the ball, worked and played some tidy stuff, said to me that with better players, he'd do a good job. My doubts about him are exposing his defence, his stubbornness to stick with that style when his team have had to step up a level and you need to be pragmatic, and his obvious "need to be in a happy place which isn't the North" spiel.

I think the experience of Sanchez Flores and the way he set Watford up against us showed which manager had that bit of nous and extra knowledge.

First half I felt like we could score every time we went forward, foot off gas in the second, all in all great day out and great curry in the swadesh with BG74 to finish the day, got a smile on my face :)

yeah, they're spoiled if they think that was defensive today, far too open considering their defence consisted of a bunch of championship players, a back-up keeper and Distin, who was playing League 1 standard football for Everton last season and can't run.

If they play away like that much more often we won't see them at the Etihad next season, you need to play with what you've got relative to your opposition, not what you want to have. Howe played like he had Arsenal's squad at his disposal, and if we'd had a fully fit side who didn't have bigger fish to fry this week, it could have been much worse.

Yes I agree, and he cut a frustrated figure on the touchline, as I said he played into our hands, naive or brave (stupid), but I think he'll learn.

Their away results are mixed, should have won at Liverpool, but lost, won at West Ham, but 3 defeats since that, at Norwich, Stoke, and today, so maybe he isn't learning :)

Their home form will be key to whether they stay up, 1 win, 2 draws, 1 defeat so far.....
