City vs Burnley Post Match Thread

In a season where it looks like City are barely be able to drop points and still be able to win the title, drawing v Burnley is a poor result, when added to losing at home to Stoke. It feels mow like we must not drop any more home points and with Arsenal at home to come soon this could be tricky.

The margin for errors seem so small this year, that it feels like such a result could almost cost us the league, but here's hoping we can beat Sunderland whilst Chelsea drop points at Spurs and Utd drop points at Stoke. Not only did the draw prevent us gaining ground on Chelsea but also stopped us putting more daylight between ourselves and Utd.

I have said before we have a very good team capable of great results, but we still seem just fractionally short of being a great team. We lack a killer instinct still when we are on top. Great teams do not stop when a few goals up or on top in games, they carry on and go for the jugular and press home any advantages they have. Perhaps the best example of this was last season when 4-0 up v Utd after 55 mins, the team eased off when Utd were there to be trodden on even more. Some of our players just lack that final edge that would make us a great team.

Now we must hope that Chelsea are not as strong as they appear, Utd do not continue to have such a revival and Arsenal do not show they are better than most people think, and we ourselves can overcome the challenges ahead, in particular the 3 games v Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea in Jan, and then later games at such as at Anfield away (we have a poor record there) and the 2 legs v Barcelona and Utd away where the Red loving media will be salivating, waiting for us to fail.

Oh and Maureen please shut up !, so Fabregas got booked when he maybe should have had a pen, did you not see City v Southampton and Aguero getting booked. He has the bare faced cheek to think there is a campaign by everyone from Refs to pundits to the media against Chelsea. The same Refs that allowed for diving v Hull and v West Ham by his players this season and gave a dodgy pen v WBA last season etc etc, and the same pundits and media who have been fawning over the "Invincible quadruple winning" Chelsea this season.

Am I the only one who thinks Hart should save the first even if there is a touch and even if there is an off side for me Hart cost us another two points today and cost us a sloppy goal against west brom

well done Burnley all the same

ffs seriously there's no pleasing some people. Hart has won us a number of points this season and you're blaming him for a goal concerned in terrible conditions and an offside goal?Hold your head in shame.

Obviously today's performance wasn't good but it might be worth taking a step back before slating the team. We have had a brilliant run and played some hard games and come out on top. Maybe it caught up with them today. It's a shame we didn't capitalise on Chelsea's dropped points but not the end of the world. It's a bit crap to dismiss all the good performances lately over a poor 45 mins which to be fair also included an offside goal which changed the result.

Well said

FFS! I have never heard such bollocks.
It was pretty clear today that a lot of the players were running on empty, so what do some of the tits on here do? Slag the players off and demand Pellegrinis head. You should hang your heads in shame...
We were missing 3 of the worlds best players, the spine of themteam, and you want to moan and woman like spoilt raggy bastards?
Well fuckoff to the swamp then. These players have given everything of late, 9 wins and 2 draws in the last 11 games not good enough for some.
I'm proud as fuck of my team tonight.

Absolutely.

For me to make it to that elite level we have to learn to strangle the life out of games when we're a couple in front. Far too often at 2 nil we think that it's job doneand there are countless examples to back this upOpposiion teams se to sense this and our discipline goes. Yes we missedkey pplayers I'm this department but the whole squad needs to learn collectively
This should not impact at all on our style of play. Ruthlessness separates this very good from the very best

Certainly a refreshingly positive antidote to all the knee-jerk doom-and-glooming going on but its equally amiss.

Running on empty or not the players certainly wont be proud of themselves for letting slip a two goal lead to a side in the bottom three at home.

I am sorry but you are wrong
The fact remains the goal still stood and Hart should have saved it, these are the things that win or loose league titles.

Hart is not immune from criticism and he cost us dear yesterday no matter how unpalatable that may seem to you.

I am sure if the blunder had been a Dzeko missed pen he would have been slated but it would appear no matter how bad Hart's, quite regular mistakes, some people are happy to ignore them
