City vs Burnley Post Match Thread

Burnley were great in the last half hour where we were playing like headless chickens. In that situation we needed someone who could keep the ball and we didn't have that capability. Not having Yaya cost us the game because there was no tandem between the forwards and defence. Going for the 3rd cost us the game really too, at 2-0 we should of shut shop and stayed solid but instead we went to pieces not knowing what to do when it became 2-1.

They easily could of won it towards the end and had loads of chances but they just missed the quality in the end. Ings and Barnes gave us an absolute nightmare.

This result should give us a bit of a kick up the arse and see us continue to do well as we have more difficult fixtures coming up this month. We would of won 10 on the bounce which would of been great but that isn't going to happen for the entire season, I'd much rather break that with a draw than a loss, don't forget we are still unbeaten since the fiasco game at home against CSKA.

Chelsea dropped points as well as us so we haven't really lost anything. 3 points behind the most overhyped team in history is a good place to be and yesterday it would of been down to a point, there just isn't that much difference. If you look at how many we are conceding and how many we are scoring compared to Chelsea, this will go right down to the wire. Chelsea are not as good as people think in fact they were shocking against Southampton and they WILL drop points. Mourinho's latest tirade against refs on the diving thing is just another example of the pressure they are feeling in this title race.

It's clear dyche changed tactics at half time to get the ball into the strikers quicker. But in the first half we swarmed there left hand side and they couldn't cope. Nothing came from our left due to kolarov terrible performance it has to be said. Big credit has to go to there manager for not giving up yesterday when I've seen many teams to do that at our place. In these sort of games we miss yaya control in the midfield.

Not being able to attack as much down the left was also due to not having Milner in position due to our lack of forwards and missing Yaya - who usually dominates the passing game in midfield.

Fair play to the six fingered folk from the basin of Burnley. Not happy, but hey ho. We're still 3 points off top and flapping ain't gonna do owt to help. I think some people reckon we just have to show up to claim three points and other teams will just roll over and let us shaft them. It don't work like that and Burnley were no mugs. Respect and credit where its due.

The thing that gets me about the complaints is that these things do happen. They always do, they always will and to every team. It's off the back of nine wins in a row. Yes, it's annoying, but that really is football.

If it's any consolation I find the "it's pathetic/shit/unacceptable" brigade equally tiresome and it's true most of you sound like undercover rags. Your "look at me" "10 consecutive wins" thread stank of raggy behaviour. You even put an emoticon in the thread title. Not five minutes after the final whistle.

Even an emoticon??? My God that's just terrible.

Perhaps it was because I was a bit pissed off (and pissed for that matter). And the "raggy" comments bollocks, jesus, I've been a supporter for 49 years - how long have you?

Course you have mate. 49 years and you still post like a pubescent rag. Carry on. Your mask slips a little each week.

Child.

I've noticed you being a complete twat on here for a while now. I think I shall make you number 2 on my ignore list, after 6 or 7 year of my posting here. Well done and goodbye. Happy trolling.

So disappointed that I have made my first post in 2 years!!
Can anybody tell me why this team only gets motivated when we fall behind or are under pressure. Pelli has no idea how to motivate this team of overpaid pre-madonnas. Second half was hard to watch. I agree that we have been riding our luck last few games but the biggest mistake is allowing Pelli to buy that totally consistent shite of Mandela.... But we are stuck with him cos paying all this money and admitting a mistake is too much to expect from this guy.
In summary I think we will win the league by luck and nothing to do with the manager........
You joined this forum on May 10 2011.

4 days later we won the FA Cup, our first major trophy in over 35 years. Yet you didn't post.
We won the league in one of the most dramatic climaxes ever seen in football the following season. Yet you didn't post.
The next season we again got to the FA Cup Final, came second in the league and Mancini was dramatically sacked. Yet you still didn't post.
Last season, for the first time in our history, we won a league and cup double. Yet not a peep from you.

Yet we draw 2-2 with Burnley and up you pop. You people are so transparent.

This is not a knee-jerk reaction to the Burnley game but I do think we are short of natural leaders in midfield/attack. I'm not especially impressed with Yaya's leadership qualities (particularly when we're up against it) but we lacked anyone with authority until Lampard appeared. This is a long-term issue that needs addressing IMHO.

At the back both Kolarov (poor game) and MDM appear blessed with the required natural social skillset but, maybe because of their position, lack the opportunity to influence. Hart might have the personality and respect but is also too far from the action.
