City vs Fullham Post Match Discussion

Tevez set both goals up at Arsenal and his sublime flick today set up Silva's 2nd. He then put in Silva for what should have been another goal.

Add to that his non stop effort that tires defences leaving the job of the strikers left on easier.

He isn't scoring as many but you can't argue with the above.

Bit disappointed in the performance today. Was a bit flat after a pretty good start.

But very happy with the 3 points, puts us only 3 points worse off than after 23 matches last year, and 1 better off than results against the same sides last season (swapping promoted for relegated).

Anyone without sky blue goggles on can see we are going Backwards
Premier League is shite so we can get away with giving the ball away
In Europe we have been punished by good sides
Usual flaws today, no urgency or tempo
Its not going to be Guardiola but Mancini won't take us any further!
Going backwards?
Barcelona got beat today by Real Sociedad does that mean they are going backwards? and they play the exact football you seemingly want which is high pressure/intensity football.

Today we did what we had to do to get the result, should we have ran ourselves into the ground just for the sake of it?

In Europe though I agree we need to show more urgency and up the tempo like how we played against Newcastle and Norwich etc. It is a mystery why we can't do it and spending more money in the summer isn't going to help if Mancini keeps setting the team out the same way.

Missed yaya today big time , we were always giving the ball away and when we did get the ball missed his always being available in the center of the park .

That my friend, was how to have a discussion. We can agree to disagree but we all have the right to assess things. Like you say 'If Mancini keeps setting the team up this way'. This is my point, a top manager would adapt and learn from mistakes. I don't expect perfection but the manager to address the problems, if he is capable of spotting them.

I find it impossible to believe the witch hunt re Tevez....... I thought he looked sharp today, i wish there was a similar work ethic from the others.....

I believe that even after the antics of last season we are damn lucky to have Carlos......

I recommend that you guys read my earlier post in this thread about tevez.

Im sure you will all say it is a load of nonsense and i am full of crap but i still want to hear opinion about the issue i raised.

To be honest i think a lot of what you said holds up about Tevez , and it's probably fair to say that City look more of a threat when Aguero plays , as opposed to Tevez ..... although both can take on chances when often other players are seen to be in better goalscoring postions.

But Tevez is a quick thinking player , sometimes TOO quick , but his ball to Milner at the Emirates for our first goal is a prime example of his 'alertness' ...... not many players would have even seen Milners run , let alone play the perfect pass for him.

Yes , he's struggling to score goals , and yes , he's lacking the overall impact of his early days here ...... but he's currently putting a lot of effort into games , if not into answering letters from the cops , and i'm prepared to settle for that , as long as the side continue to churn out positive results ...... Mancini appears content to do so too.

Tevez, in my opinion is actually a better player than aguero and certainly more creative. A man of faith once said that the heart of the matter is always the matter of the heart and i fear that tevez heart has never been with the club. This may be extremly cynical of me but my cynicism and distrust has compelled me to closely study his actions during matches and although he is incredible strong and chases every ball down and everybody rightly respects and celebrates that trait of his, i really do not trust him in clutch moments to deliver for us and past events have supported my sentiment.

He is still a world class player and i wish him to play an important role this season.

Also is it terribly difficult to find someone in Manchester that can speak and teach Tevez english- this is getting ridiculous.

How I long for the days when walking out of the ground after a comprehensive 2-0 victory (that could so easily have been 5) meant listening to happy blues on the phone ins on the drive home and seeing the beaming faces of fellow fans leaving the ground.
Of course those were the days before the FM generation decided that by not scoring 5 a game there is justification in slagging off the manager, and players who may not quite have hit a 9 out of 10 are vilified and spoken about as if they've just come from the North-West Counties division!
Ah well fuck'em, I'm happy (as I am with every win) and I still believe we'll win the league. We might not be blowing teams away in the style that we became used to in the first half of last season but this last 5-6 weeks have seen us step up considerably and that bodes well for the run in.
This fixture was always going to be a pretty run of the mill result IMO and the danger was our own sloppiness costing us due to concentration levels dropping. For the most part I thought we kept focus at the back, the midfield (Barry in particular) won most of their battles and bar the actual finishing the forward line linked well and as mentioned could have scored a brace apiece.
So yeah, there is room for improvement and there will be tougher tests in the coming weeks but for today lets try and take the positives :- Aguero back and looking sharp, the goals will come - back four looking stronger and more cohesive as the season progresses - Rodwell back, Nasri back - Barry looking as good as ever - 3 points and a clean sheet - Silva being a City player.. There are plenty more and I'm sure there are people who would compile a list of negatives to counter but like I said - fuck'em..
