City Vs Liverpool Post Match Discussion Thread

Thought Roberto got the tactics spot on tonight by sitting back a little and not pressing futher up the pitch along with not pressuring so quickly and closing down when without the ball like we have been doing all season.
After playing on sunday the players would have got silly tired and maybe with this the concentration goes a bit around the 70 mins.We all could have guessed this is when Kenny(all hail the king) was hoping the game would still be tight bringing on Gerrard and Bellamy to make an impact.
When they came on we still looked up with the play and the concentration levels were spot on,Bellamy looked sharp as always and caused a few problems but he can still do that against fresh players but thought Gerrard was inaffective really and didn't do much.
I did think Agger was a bit sneaky with the red, not seen it again from the head on but I reckon he jinked slightly at the last min and made sure he ran into Barry knowing he was on a final warning and by the looks of it Barry had already nearly stopped so as not to make contact. If it was the other way round I'd be doing a sneaky grin.

A great win and not at 100% even after 2 days more rest I think the liverpool players came of that bit more tired.

200m is a lot of money. You also have to take into consideration the wages. in 2010 you were spending £130 million on wages. I'm just guessing that it will be almost double what we were spending. You could get 95% of world footballers to play for you by offering ludicrous contracts that no other club in world football can match.

I can honestly say, I wish you all the success for the next 3 years. Because all these 'projects' have a deadline. Chelsea's is close and yours wont be to far behind. You realize if this doesn't work then your club will be fucked.

Anyone can buy the premier league, so im glad we aren't doing that.I want to win it fairly, and I, and a lot of other people think that you aren't doing it fairly. But then again, who the fuck cares what others think of you. Right? When you lift the trophy high in the sky and your all jumping around sing 'Championes' you wont care.

But I think a lot of you do care what others think about your club. It's time you stop worrying about what others think about you and just go about your business. At the end of the day, your project will work in the short term. But, honestly, It wont last.

so you object to people who have money spending their money?

ok.

Ask me why you spunked £100m on players who haven't made you any better than you were last season?

ask me why you consistently wasted money in the transfer market and how Benitez who had a fair wad of cash despite Hicks and Gillett still managed to balls up the league?

Apart from your FLUKE in Istanbul, and Gerrard stealing the FA Cup from West Ham, what the fuck have you done in the past few years?

In fact, since Carragher, who have you actually brought through who's of any notable ability beyond the dipper eyes?

As for it not lasting, it hasn't even started yet and you can easily see we're better run than either Chelsea or Blackburn, even United. We won't win everything, and there'll be times we struggle, but we're setting ourselves up to be challenging at the top for a long, long time, something you, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Blackburn all failed to do, think long term, and that's why you all are squabbling amongst yourselves to catch us and Spurs, who have done it properly, and United, to be fair to them have held it together.

To win the game you have to play the game, you're playing it just like us, we're just better at it than you now.

If you're not trying to buy the league, then where have all these players come from?

I'm happy you have Kenny, because he's holding you back and proving he has no idea how to manage anymore(regardless of what happens in the CC), christ even Benitez would have done better with that £100m, and he bought Babel, Dossena and Aquilani.

And im the Jealous one?
If it had happened to you it would it have been a fluke?

yeah, because AC Milan were clearly the better team.

Fair play to you and all, but if that's all you lot can harp on about as some sort of vindication of your "elite" status then you're just proving, as always, that you dippers can't get over anything, harp on about the past and have a hugely inflated opinion of yourselves.

Let's not forget, you were so bad domestically that season the Blue Dippers beat you in the league and you had to get "special dispensation" to get back in the CL again.

I like Mancini, classy guy but please don't copy those Barca clowns with the imaginary card waving. Yes he was right to question the ref not dismissing him, but i hate when manages try and get the ref to send players off.

Apart from that great win and i think the PL is in your hands.

Considering the **** whinger has made of himself in the last day or so I think you should look closer to home.

I have no problems coming onto other forums and having good discussions and i'm slightly surprised that i didn't get alot of abuse.

But, before today we had the best defense in the premiership. Our back for is very good.

Lucas, is one of the most under rated players in the league. He is an absolute machine.

You put out our best possible team.

Reina

Johnson
Agger
Skertl
Enrique

Maxi
Lucas
Gerrard
Bellamy

Suarez
Carroll

That is a good starting position for a team. We then add a Mata/Silva type player and then a striker like Torres from 2 years ago then that is a team that can easily get top 4 football.

I know you think, its another false dawn for us. But it isn't. You can just feel it, something is different. The club lost its identity and Kenny is bringing it back. And he will also bring back trophies and a platform for which our next manager (Jamie Carragher) can take us back to where we were in the 70's and 80's.

Im happy that you are experiencing this success, but i have a very simple question for you all.

Does it feel like your playing football manager but you have added 500million to your balance? You win everything, but it doesn't feel as good as earning the way the game is meant to be played.

Liverpool outlay on players last five years aprox 300 million

City outlay on players last five years approx 500 million.

In the current climate not that different. Considering what you have said about your future potential buys and our squad almost being complete, u may well catch us up. Does it feel like football manager to you.

No, we dont care what jealous bitter scoucers think of our club. In fact, it is highly entertaining. Now go and put a tshirt on with a toothy racist on the front, then hold a candlelight vigil in remembrance of what you once were 30 years ago. Then go and have a look at the 80 acre site that will hold the worlds best training facility and youth academy on the planet, to be completed within four years possibly three. Not to mention the huge swathes of land that have been purchased and will be developed in partnership with Manchester City Council and will help regenerate the whole of East Manchester. THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING MY DIPPER FRIEND AND IT WILL LAST A LIFETIME AND MORE.

YOU BETTER GET USED TO IT.

You really need to check you're history, because you great teams of the 80's was bought lot stock and barrell

This was the team that beat Roma

Bruce Grobbelaar
Phil Neal
Alan Kennedy
Mark Lawrenson
Ronnie Whelan
Alan Hansen
Kenny Dalglish
Sammy Lee
Ian Rush
Craig Johnston
Graeme Souness

the subs
Michael Robinson
Bob Bolder
Steve Nicol
David Hodgson
Gary Gillespie

To make it easier I put in bold the only player who actually came through you're youth set up, if you ever actually had one back then. I'm sure other blues can come up with other examples that so that you never bought a trophy, as you put it in you're history?

Even at the most in the 70's the core of you're team was bought and you're club bankrolled by a very wealthy family, a bit like us, to a certain extent and that is where you started and where you're "History" comes from as every sucessfull club has its just something that happens. I promise you we will have won 19 titles before Liverpool ever win it again.
