So, bearing in mind that Adebayor will neither be scoring nor assisting on Sunday, how are their stats without him?

Re: City v Tottenham Official Matchday Thread

I though Ledley King had a hamstring tear?

Re: City v Tottenham Official Matchday Thread

This i believe is where Bobby really earns his money, needless to say this is a big game for both teams and could sway the title race in a totally different direction. Im a little bit worried about our recent performances but we're still picking up points so im not complaining. I hope the boys realise what a great opportunity it is on Sunday to pull a bit further away from the pack and another clean sheet would be nice. Plus i do fancy Arsenal against the scum.

My team as follows:

Hart
Richards
Savic
Lescott
Clichy
Barry
Milner
Silva
Nasri
Dzeko
Aguero

I hope Mario is fit enough to start on the bench, i would include AJ but he is far better (imo) coming off the bench late on. Nasri isn't playing well but i prefer him to AJ at this moment in time, in saying that Bobby may play him as protection for Micah because of the threat of Bale. Im going to go for a hard fought 2:0 cmon you blues!!!
Silva and Aguero.

Re: City Vs Spuds Pre Match Discussion thread

Spurs fan in peace probably has the lineup right, and the prediction may not be too far off either.

The only saving grace for Spurs is that, though we are missing Ade, you all are missing Kompany and Toure. Now, the problem here is that there is so much quality in the City side that those loses will be much easier to cover for than Spurs losing Ade. Defoe seems to have found the form this season that he was lacking last, yet whenever he plays with VDV it just doesn't end up being very effective, as he lacks the size and strength (though he has committed to his fitness and has been working out with the same personal trainer since the summer).

I would be surprised by anything other than a City victory because, without Ade, I just don't think we have the ability to control possession in forward areas. We really rely on his ability to hold up play and move into wider areas when needed.

If Savic plays (or will Richards just shift inside?) that might be an area we can exploit, as I expect Harry to allow Bale to continue to move freely, playing both outside and in. His pace can give even the best defenders trouble, but I worry that both Lennon and Bale will suffer from not having Ade up top, particularly given that they have gotten so used to playing with him, as he has played almost every league match for us.

Either way, just hope for an exciting, end to end, controversey-free match. The last thing I want is to see this come down to a Referee's decision. Hopefully Webby will bring his A-game.

Re: City Vs Spuds Pre Match Discussion thread

this will be a 2-1 (either way) or a 1-1, a 3-0 City victory the Spurs fan predicts is a nice reverse jinx. We can point to the 5-1 but we were catching Spurs at a good time when their best player didn't want to play and they had no midfield.

Savic was steady against a toothless Wigan team but this will be a different animal, he'll have to have his best City game yet, I think.

What are the chances that Richards moves in to the center and Zabaleta is recalled into the starting 11? To me that seems to be the safer bet if there is a worry about Savic's experience, etc. Is this a move Mancini would consider making?

Couple of early goals by us spurs players will fear the worse.....

Re: City Vs Spuds Pre Match Discussion thread

I think mancini will go with the extra midfielder instead of nasri.
My team would be -

Hart
Richards Nedum Lescott Clichy

DE jong Barry

Milner

Silva Dzeko Aguero

Re: City Vs Spuds Pre Match Discussion thread

personally I can't see it happening, someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure Richards has ever been deployed as a CB under Mancini?

Richards has arguably been the best right back in the league this year, so if he is recovered from his hamstring we will need his runs down the flank to open up the attack a bit.

City would catch a nice break if the match comes too soon for Ledley King; what a freak of nature he is. Never fit and when he is fit enough to actually play I've never seen him have a bad game. Suffice to say if King is in the XI, Dzeko will probably have a quieter night than the last time the two teams met.
