MCWFC

I have to admit I am not a great fan of women's football yet but noticed that they played a game today on the main Etihad pitch and not on the Athletics arena next door as is usual until the new mini Etihad is ready. It was used for the EDS game on Thursday and we have 2 really important games at home in the next 7 days so was it a good idea to use it again when we didn't have to?

Well done to City Ladies, won today 1-0 against Everton. First win of the season I think?!

I was at the game today and behind me was a female Everton fan. I was listening to her comments and amongst the usual club bias she was quite complimentary about City. being fitter, stronger and passing the ball around better and she couldnt believe how we hadnt won this season. (Yes she had forgotten Reading).

Any how, the acid test when we scored, how long before she mentioned the money.

30 seconds.

pissed myself laughing.

Re: City Ladies

Well deserved victory today and that's without start striker Tony Duggan who presumably was injured. Then another injury early in the game to Emma Lipman meant a reorganisation at the back but I think City always looked the better side and deserved the win.

Very late coming though and I wondered if Everton had cause for complaint about the keeper being baulked when the cross came over.Maybe it was one of her own players but it had been the keeper who almost got the draw for them with 2 excellent saves from headers from Steph Houghton and I think Jill Scott.

All the hard work finally paid off though when Tash Flint knocked in the loose ball for the winner.Scary though when Everton went straight down and hit the post after hardly troubling City all game till then. I just hope this sparks the team into a run of wins now.

I do think Betsy Hassett fully deserved the MotM award for her tireless running and clever midfield play.Steph Houghton was also at her best at the back and really seems a great leader and organiser of the team
