Citys american tour

I dont know Dalbey, I can think of worse places to spend a summers evening than watching a live football match!!! Thats especially true if its easy to get there! Havent been to a game here in donkeys years. The stadium is in New Jersey and its a ball ache to get to!!

I believe there will be shuttle buses departing from the Mad Hatter... That should ease a significant burden.

No I meant for a regular run of the mill game in New Jersey. I will be in Thailand when the Blues come calling in a few weeks....

They made you sign up for one of those mini-season package things?

Yeah. To be fair to them, the deal is really very good. And I have fantastic seats. But I am just not that interested in the Timbers and likely won't go to more then a quarter of the matches. I only really have room for one football team ;) .
I would do the same, but I'm not driving down to Portland for the Timbers.

I'm flying up to Portland for the match. Will be staying walking distance to the ground as my brother lives there. Definitely want to meet up with some Blues before the match at a local watering hole.

like a lot of stuff I'm seeing increasingly written on Bluemoon this posting (the original) is an embarrassment.

less and less am I bothering to post, and more and more do I have the feeling things are degenerating to a point where I wouldn't wish to.

people slag each other off, the players, the management, the new management, and now it's where we are playing our pre-season tours which isn't good enough; and I think we've been going overseas for sometime now, FFS.

I don't have much time for people who are small-minded, intolerant of others, or just plain ignorant, which sadly seems to be where we're heading these days...

what's happening to people?

is the mental age and capacity of posters on BM now lower than at any other time of its operation? Buzzer1, where are you? What's the explanation and conspiracy at hand here? Has someone infiltrated the server and/or poisoned the local water supply in Manchester? Is Ric still human or has he been sodomised by an alien and replaced with a robot?

(and come to think of it, what's happened to the rest of the mods?)

Do you think you might become more interested once they move up to the MLS? Not to compare the two, but for as little as I know about Seattle Sounders' history, you can't help but be impressed with the kind of supporters' backing they've had this last season and a half.

I don't know that I'm going to renew them next year when they get into the MLS. Single game tickets are easy to get for regular season games so if there's someone specific I'm interested in seeing I'll go that route. I really only purchased these so I could get City tickets and as a side benefit see Boca Juniors play, which by the way was a fantastic match that the Timbers won in the 89th minute 3-2 with a freekick ouside the box.

There are two benefits to the Timbers though, one being that tickets can easily be had for a good price right down near the pitch, and two they're in the summer when there is no City. So I'll always pop in for a few games in the summer just to tide me over.

The Timbers Army supporters are great no doubt about it. They go out of their way to create a really good atmoshphere. They sing the whole match(there's about a thousand of them) have a massive drum that is used most of the match and will bring in flares and green smoke bombs regularly. It can get pretty smoky down that end! Oh and they HATE the sounders fans. I was talking to one of the chief supporters at the Boca match and his wife was getting into fights with the Sounders fans the last time they had played each other in Seattle. Good times! ;)

Again though, I really only have room for one team in my heart and that will always be City.........and the Portland TrailBlazers...the City of the NBA ;) .

I'm trying to get tickets to our friendly in Portland.

The cheapest I can find are $110 a seat. Some are priced at $300. This is for a friendly, and only offered to Portland Timers' season ticket holders.

The interest is not high yet, but it is growing.

They are £30, surely getting them couriered over will save save you a few quid?

They won't courier them over, I managed to get tickets, as a season ticket holder with the requisite number of loyalty points, because I am on holiday in Vancouver, after quite a few long distance calls (!!) to the ticket office and with a lot of help from the Eccles MCFC Supporters' club secretary, but they will not send the tickets to the address I am at in Vancouver but have told us they will be brought over by a club official who will contact us to collect them from him!! Maybe because they couldn't believe that anyone would want to drive from Vancouver to Portland! :-)

When will premier league teams stop this farce of playing games in america? the yanks just arent interested, how many extra shirts or tickets will we sell because of this tour? and mean while the true fans over hear have to put up with 3 am kick offs of a couple of grand on a trip you might end up seing the reserves play

Not everyone in the States is a Yank you clown.

There's at least one in every state who isn't! Oops, sorry thought that said 'not everyone in the States is a clown'!

It's a matter of time before America like football imo.

Although, the americans like to think they are the best at everything so they have to make up their own sports and declare themselves the worlds best at it then put down other sports they aren't good at.

Pretty pathetic imo.
