City's "Hard Men"

Tony Coton had a reputation as a hard man although I cannot remember any on the pitch stuff to back this up. I vaguely remember remember a story about Niall Quinn warning some fans not to pester him when they ran into the team enjoying some drinks on a pre-season tour.
All off the pitch stuff with Coton. Not the nicest of characters to be around at any time.

Kompany, a gentleman who always tried to approach every game with dignity and respect but was hard as nails and never stepped away from an altercation. Him setting the standard against Liverpool screaming at Salah when he tried to get him sent off should not be forgotten.

Also, as he has touched upon himself, anyone of color growing up in the area of belgium he did had to be as hard as they come. Often had to fight his way home

Jacks ol´fella

Was hard because kicking people all he could do. In terms of striking fear into opponents, well he looked like a Geography teacher, so I guess youd only be really afraid of him if youd had some PTSD following an altercation with a thrown black board rubber during school years.
I do remember him crashing into a united player during a derby. (cant remember who but thought it was nice at the time)
Left Norman Whiteside in a heap!

I’ll never forget a little vignette in a game against Chelsea in his first season where they were passing it around us a bit too easily and NDJ initiated a series of aggressive challenges for the ball from various City players culminating in him absolutely smashing thru somebody to concede a throw in.

Never have I heard a challenge cheered as loudly as that one was.

Michael Brown could put in a tasty challenge or 2.
Kevin Horlock must have been quite intimidating at times as he was sent off for aggressive walking.
