City's "Hard Men"

I know for a fact you didn’t mess around with Eric Nixon. Hard as nails.
Still remember the pen he gave away against palace, but can’t remember if it was ian wright or mark bright he floored?!!, nasty atmosphere in the kippax that game

Really? To this day, always thought it was Wright.

Especially so, as Mark Bright also broke his arm that game.
There is a set of 3 in this clip alone, they were at it all game and Nixon's nose was broke by him. It ended a real purple patch for city and cost us promotion I reckon as we lost momentum.

Mike Summerbee certainly hard as nails. Mike Doyle too.
Franny Lee could look after himself too. Think it’s Mike who tells a story about 3 lads giving him shit outside the hotel where the team had the reception after the 69 final. Franny came outside and battered all three of them

Lunacy what Nixon did there particularly as we were on a great run at the time. I think Paul Lake described John Gidman as a bit of a nutter In his book.

Michel Vonk. Tough, no nonsense type defender. I remember being at Anfield one year, walking past the main stand surround by Liverpool fans and watched Michel Vonk walk through them all wearing a turtle neck with a City badge. Everyone was looking at him but no one said a word to him.
