There was no good and bad side when it came to Germany v USSR, clearly USSR came out on top and enslaved half of Europe which wasn't a good outcome. Both dictators killed millions of their own citizens and has no qualms about massacring whole sections of society in countries they occupied.

I appreciate your's insight. It might sound utterly insane inviting Russia into Nato but wouldn't that not only help curtail the immediate problem, but also encourage other alleged rogue nations to sign up so that eventually the worlds police can be the UN...not Usa/Uk etc and take away those countries residents fears. Its too easy for them to blame the Usa. Harder for them to blame the collective UN if things go wrong in conflict zones as its made up of multinationals. I'm making it sound simple but if their is the will is it really that difficult?

Bullshit. The USSR never occupied Helsinki. They invaded Finland in 1939 but only had the objective of protecting Leningrad. The USSR advanced into Finland but once they occupied the Karelian Istmus, called off the offensive.

yeah I thought that was a weird thing to say, the Soviets invaded and occupied parts of Finland during the Winter War (and quietly kept them afterwards) but never reached or occupied Helsinki. The closest they got was actually the Finnish civil war twenty years earlier when they sponsored the “reds”.

Finland also leased land for a base at Porkkala near Kirkonummi to the west of Helsinki to the Soviets but that was all part of Kekkonen’s great game where he did his best to appease Moscow whilst also trying to stay part of the West for a few decades. There was certainly a degree of Russian influence in Finland during that time but not to any degree that meant Finland was controlled.

This is far more interesting than trying to decide where inevitably Chelsea will play Liverpool in a European final. I’m still not 100% we’ll get past Sporting in the home leg.
