CL Quarter Final Draw - Liverpool A Apr 4th - H Apr 10th

Which was the game beforehand and against ten-men, having restricted Barca to essentially nothing, prior, barring a Fern slip which contributed to the first goal?

Our win at the Etihad did not surprise me in the slightest once we woke up after the break.

We've played them 6 times recently and lost 5 of them, with an aggregate score of 13-3, it' just going to take more than one comeback win at home when they were missing Pique, Iniesta and a few others to make me feel fine about drawing them, and I imagine others are the same.

We're a much better side now, but they are very solid defensively now, I'd rather have played Enrique's Barca than this one.

Would love to win it, but really want to make it to the semi finals at least, so anyone but Bayern, Real, or Barcelona.

I might be in minority here but do share your point of view on this ... the whole myth of being drawn at home second is advantageous is in my view only a myth ... I actually think having second leg away is more advantageous ...

My reasoning is away goals rule ... carry over a draw after first leg and your goals count as double when away ... moreover if it goes to extra time you have that extra half an hour to score away goals vs if you are at home and the tie stretches to the extra time then you are giving your opponent that opportunity of extra half hour to score an away goal ... wherebas you’d need to score two to get anything out of it then.

And also not like we ever have a colosseum like atmosphere at the Etihad that would intimidate anyone (at this level) as much so I don’t actually see if being home second gives all that extra advantage?

We can beat real but barcelona bayern and liverpool are 50 50

I think we can beat them all, on our day, but Real Madrid are incredibly strong and their experience of having regularly reached the final and won the tournament gives them an edge over most other teams. I'd love us to win the CL, but I still think we'll have to suffer going out in the semi-finals or losing a final first before we actually do. Maybe we will buck the trend, but I won't be disheartened if I see us only stepping closer.

It's not an exact science but there's a lot of sense in that mate. I think Ferguson used to say that a 0-0 draw in a first leg away from home is nowhere near as good a result as some might think, and United definitely came a cropper with that one on at least one occasion under him when they drew 0-0 in Monaco in 1997-98 then drew the home leg 1-1, going out on away goals.

Liverpool is the only other team I wouldn't want to face - not because I think we'd lose, but because I respect their football and want them to go as far as possible.

Roma/Shaktar & Utd/Sevilla would both be straight-forward, Juventus would be a tough opponent but not a bad draw all things considered

That's jolly noble of you. I'd personally like to see all English clubs crash out of the tournament as soon as possible and leave use with a larger pot of cash to divide with the other finalist, assuming we get there. :-)

12-5 on aggregate. They’ve only scored more than twice against us once on those 6 occasions and as stated that was when we were reduced to 10 men for 3 of their goals.

I agree it’s not one to cherish but at the same time with the way we are playing this season we should fear no one, including Barcelona
