Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

You should hear some of the tracks on our best ever classic rock albums. The definition of what is classic rock is very very broad.
I have no problem with ‘pick up the pieces’ as classic rock.
that would be 'funk' mate....and only funk.
Indeed the AWB were so good at funk that James Brown in a fit of pique renamed his backing band the 'Above average brown band;...much to the delight of the AWB!

We last saw them in 2004, when they were on a Florida cruise ship with Journey and Styx. (My missus is a huge Journey fan, so we went over for her 40th birthday to see them .... Augeri singing.)
Their gig was excellent, and they were all very sociable around the boat.

They were still good when I saw them as Quo's special guests, even without Richrath.

In fairness, there probably is real music or musicianship out there and the charts shit was always a contrast to what might have been considered serious music.
But my young lad listens to tons of stuff that probably falls into my definition of the shit category, but his generation regard it as serious.

When you actually listen to the subject matter, it is serious stuff. I just don’t like it. Other stuff he listens to I can take to. I always preferred guitar over electronics but I can take a bit of that too.

He listens to a lot of stuff from every era. He puts pretty cool playlists together based on stuff he’s heard in films etc. and quite often is surprised when I tell him what year it’s from.
Last family weekend away we had his playlist on in the car for the journeys there and back and there was everything in there from 60’s up to present and it was brilliant.
My son plays in a G&R tribute band, whenever I've seen them, apart from the die-hard fans, there is always a good contingent from the younger generation. Not only are they enjoying the 80's rock music, but it's surprising how many sing along, knowing the words, even from some of the less well known tracks.
Rock Never Dies.

This has today been posted on Lone Star's official FB page. A band I loved back in the day. Saw them many times, and everyone expected them to go on to great things, but they lost original singer, Kenny Driscoll (due to personal reasons involving his then other half) and though their second album, with John Sloman on vocals, got great reviews and was well received, they sank without trace after guitarist Paul Chapman returned to UFO ....

No idea who will be in this 'reformation', and as yet just one gig in Cardiff .... Interesting though.
