Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

This has today been posted on Lone Star's official FB page. A band I loved back in the day. Saw them many times, and everyone expected them to go on to great things, but they lost original singer, Kenny Driscoll (due to personal reasons involving his then other half) and though their second album, with John Sloman on vocals, got great reviews and was well received, they sank without trace after guitarist Paul Chapman returned to UFO ....

No idea who will be in this 'reformation', and as yet just one gig in Cardiff .... Interesting though.

Wow!. Saw them with Sloman.

Tonka is no more sadly so interesting to see who is in the line-up.

Love the Snake second to Purple for me.

Saw then early 80's at Donnington with AC/DC headlining.
Their live double In The Heart of The City (from Hammy O in 1980 was it?) is peak Snake for me. That groove they had, with killer solos, was something else (and Jon Lord of course).
By the time I saw them on the 87 tour at the NEC they were such a let down. Going off after 65 mins, played 1 hour 20 in total, and all preening and show, Coverdale dressed up, as the Kerrang reviewer at the time memorably described it “like a Christmas tree”.

I band I dismissed as Beardy Growlers from day one .... then I heard on Planet Rock, that song about Barbarella, that name checks Funkadelic/Parliament's Mothership ... ( love me Funk bands) and looked more into them. Impressed!

Only album I have by them is the one with In Walks Barbarella and that is really good. Not tried any others yet.

You should hear some of the tracks on our best ever classic rock albums. The definition of what is classic rock is very very broad.
I have no problem with ‘pick up the pieces’ as classic rock.
For a band from Scotland they were blacker than WWF. One of the best soul/ funk/ jazz bands of all time.

Any of our American or Canadian followers going to see Primus on tour doing Farwell to Kings their tribute to Rush? Or do you prefere Wynommas big brown beaver ;-)
