Same thing happened to Santi Cazorla when he got his Achilles tendon surgery, maybe it's a procedure with an increased risk of it.

The club uses the best surgeons in the best private hospitals in the world, so if someone gets an infection or complication, it's probably unavoidable or just the bad luck of the draw (or maybe even the patient's fault).
