Ive watched that video scores of times now. Taking freeze frames to indicate ball trajectory isnt going to be accurate. My take it on it is this, the shot was aimed low towards Bravo's legs and straight at him because any professional player worth their salt already knows that there is a pretty flipping good chance you will score. I dont see any deflection significant enough to alter the flight or path of the ball at all either.

Exactly. That's where you shoot, next to the legs. The deflection, if any, was trivial.

Would it be that much of a stretch to say it is likely opposition players would prefer to face a keeper who is bang out of form and is struggling to save anything? Logic tells me at the moment teams must get a right lift if bravo's name is on the team sheet. Mind you, the way we defend must give them a lift too.

Not much of a stretch at all mate but there's no evidence of that despite Bill's claims.

Bunn just hit it as hard as he could.

Ball on the deck as it passes Bravo.

Again, not excusing him because he doesn't react to the deflection but to not acknowledge that deflections as changed the trajectory is absurd.

Still can't see a conclusive deflection. Take Zaba out of those frames, the ball can still spin exactly like it did. I can do that, and I'm sure many can, with the inside of the foot.

Sigh, I give up. There was a deflection there whether you want to see it or not.

I assumed bill was talking about opposition fans but either way, evidence or not, of course opposition players and fans will be delighted when bravo plays and therefore disappointed when he doesn't. I feel a bit sorry for the guy tbh but in terms of his goalkeeping there is just no defending him. He's terrible and bill's right imo, we should be trying to win the cup with the league looking gone and that shouldn't involve picking a keeper so horribly out of form. Shame there's not reserve games anymore. 20 years ago he'd have a reserve game every week to get his form and confidence back without us having to gamble cup quarter finals on him not stinking the place out.

I'm not following?

It was straight at bravo. The other camera angle from your video would show it very clearly.

This is getting pedantic though. I'm insistent that bravos reflex is slow. You're insistent that the deflection made him react the wrong way. Two different things. There's really no end to this so I'll call it off and say you stick with your theory and I with mine.

No matter what Pep says the primary role of a goalkeeper is to stop the ball going into the net. Bravo's shot stopping ability is woeful

I could just about understand having a marginally inferior keeper who is brilliant with his feet, there could be a net gain but the issue with Bravo is that his keeping has been so bad. I had a chat on here with Pablo1 in the summer when it was being mooted that Pep was more bothered about a keeper's footwork than his keeping. I jokingly said that we may as well put Silva or Yaya in there. People will think I'm just being a dick but I honestly wonder whether we'd have been any worse off with Yaya in goals instead of Bravo, his passing is better and I doubt his keeping would have been any worse because Bravo has hardly done any keeping. Niall Quinn was a much better shot stopper than this guy.

The ball passed Zaba before Zaba had a chance to intercept it. I hope this solves the deflection issue once and for all
