Claudio Bravo Injury - Muric Recalled from NAC Breda

Bravo certainly wasn't the best 'keeper in his first season here and I wouldn't have him as a number one, but his penalty saves were crucial to our first cup last season. He also set up Agueros goal in the final , he was far from the worst back up.

According to wiki he's 35. born 13th April 1983

With a year out with a bad injury it doesn't look great for him which is a shame. He had turned into a decent back up keeper in my opinion, got his confidence back and wasn't bad at saving penalties either.

Ederson' shot to save ratio is also relatively poor. Nothing to do with his keeping.

Bravo was often blamed for goals he had next to no chance with. I remember many fans bringing up his saves to shots ratio after Spurs at home in the 2-2. It was lunacy.

Mistakes not leading to goals? So just general things you disagree with.

As I say, name 6 six errors leading to goals.
It was just a popular narrative with little factual evidence.

No I mean mistakes like getting done by a simple bounce in the Community Shield or maybe you agree with that method of keeping?
Mistakes like handballing it at Barca after misjudging things again and getting sent off.
Countless misplaced passes or panicking and kicking to touch in his first season that invited pressure back into us.

Plenty of errors were made which didn't lead immediately to a goal but must have left the defense's confidence shot and unable to play the way we do now as they had no trust in the keeper.

It's not just a popular narrative on Bluemoon, Pep knew he was nowhere near good enough either as he sacked him off the very first chance he got.

Yet again Tommcfc speaking the truth and yet again the City happy clappers refusing to have any of it. I often wondered in Bravo's first season, why the fuck he bothered wearing goalie gloves, so seldom did he actually save a ball. The clappers can quote stats all they like. Anyone with eyes could see that Bravo at one point couldn't save shit.

I think you're confusing me with Tom_Mcfc but thanks all the same ;-)

Debut flapping v Utd, no need to come so far for the ball, it was dropping right on Stones head.

Just a question for everyone who believes he is not even worthy of being a backup. Who do you honestly think is a suitable & realistic replacement? I look at all the top teams in England and Europe and I don't know where people get the expectation that we should have a better keeper as backup?

Bravo has to be near the top of the list of backup keepers in all of Europe. I am so tired of people listing all the mistakes hes made for us. ALL backup keepers have clear flaws, that's why they aren't starting keepers. If they didn't have any clear flaws no way would they sit on a bench when they could easily get playing time somewhere else. Courtois is the only example I can think of and I wouldn't be surprised if he already isn't considering whether he made a mistake moving to Real.

So no then? Barca he fucked up his pass, see Ederson vs Liverpool, Stones or Walker plenty of times.

The bounce was an error in judgement that he rectified.
Has wasn't the only one to make a mistake either.
He made errors adjusting to a new league in a system alien to everyone but him.

Yet shouldered all the blame because he replaced Hart and the likes of Saunders & Merson slagged him, Pep and 'dicking around at the back' from the get go.

Emery is getting it now.

Bravo was essential in what we're seeing today.

He was overly harshly criticised. Mainly by a media desperate for Pep to fail. The shit he got started before he took to the field.

An excellent keeper, with an excellent pedigree. Slaughtered time and time again when there were loads of others making similar mistakes. Sadly many including his own fans. Everyone from Pep to Aguero had error ridden seasons.

Pep made plenty off errors. He was given time to adapt. As was Stones, Walker. City fans love to slag a player, Danilo, Gundogan & sadly still Bravo bare the brunt of it.

As others have pointed out, Bravo is a perfect back up, arguably the best back up and most suited back up in World football of not then certainly top 5. It was only two seasons ago, he was regularly considered one of the top 5 keepers in the World & Bracelona's number 1.
