You've lost me there mate, is the team you've posted the one you'd expect for Stoke? Not that I agree with Mancio but I assume he's thinking that will be the team for Madrid.

There's no way Bob will go with your side for Madrid, be suicide to play that front 4.

Are we talking Stoke or Madrid. That's my team for Stoke btw.

My team for Madrid - or at least what I expect Mancini to go with is this:

........KT....VK....PZ......

M.......JG......YT.....AK.....

..............DS................

..........CT.......SA...........

Oh my God, please no. If he goes with Kolo and Kolorov, and Ya Ya holding, and Zabaleta as a centre half, they'll get a bagful of goals. Look at the lack of pace for their wide men to expoilt in that team! There's only Aguero, Yaya and Kompany who can run in that 11.

Kolo toure can't play. He wasn't named for the Champions league squad. Nastasic was chosen in his stead.

Hahaha. I thought it might start a bit of a discussion that selection.

Here's my rationale anyway. Madrid will play with two out and out wide men in Di Maria and Ronaldo. I can fully see Mancini asking the two wide centre halves to do an almost man marking job on them, leaving Vinny 1 v 1 with Benzema or Higuain. One of JG or YT drops off to pick up Ozil whenever he looks for space.

Then Madrid have a decisions to make. If they push their fullbacks forward they will no doubt have the chance of a 2 v 1 if our wingbacks aren't covering, but equally, our wingbacks will be much further up the field than traditional full backs and if Madrid's fullbacks do pass them in an attacking phase, there will be a shit load of space to be exploited in behind them.

On the opposite side, when we have the ball, Vinny/Kolo steps into midfield thus giving us an extra body to compete with Madrid's axis of 2.

EDIT:

Just seen that Kolo isn't registered. Ok, in that case swap Lescott for Kolo. Obviously Lescott won't be stepping into midfield due to his limited on the ball skills ... :)

If he doesn't and Nastasic plays ahead of him then we'll get raped and it'll be Mancini's fault. You think he can survive another group stage exit in the CL....I don't.

Better still, if he starts why don't you take a months break, because he will start. Of that there is no doubt.
