So four at the back is suicide, but three at the back makes us more solid. Football forum logic if ever I've heard it.

You'll all get wise to this 3-5-2 soon enough if he keeps using it against decent teams. We haven't got the personnel and it leaves us too exposed to pace and runners.

I hope the Anfield game taught Mancini a lesson.

4-2-3-1 should be the MAdrid formation. With Ya Ya in the advanced midfield role and Clichy and Maicon (in Richards's absense) as fullbacks. That's our most solid formation.

Agree with this, with Zaba and Sergio doubts i would go with this
..........................Hart
Maicon.....Komps.........Lescott........Clichy

..............Garcia.........Barry/Rodwell

...Nasri.............Toure.........Silva

.....................Tevez

I'd go with similar, but I'd drop NAsri, slot Tevez there and put Aguero up front.

I'm just presuming Aguero isn't fit enough to start, if he is yes i'd go with that

My, my... who said that Dave? I said a flat back four, didn't I? Did I say three at the back? Your burning desire to look down on people as intellectually inferior has you reaching quite a bit sometimes.

We'll get fucking hammered if we risk the 3-5-2 against Madrid. I wouldn't put it past him to do it, but I think it would be a huge mistake. They'd murder us, running at us on the flanks.

I hope I'm wrong but I've got a feeling both these things will happen. Gulp.

DD is right here and wehave already seen signs of how defensively vulnerable this 3-5-2 experiment has shown

I supposed that 3-5-2 was for going to be primarily for the Champions League. Seems like the logical place it would be effective.

Are you suggesting puttin Maicon on the left?

I'm saying if Clichy is injured i would rather have Maicon on the left than Zabaleta or Kolarov purely for pace
It's too bad Usain Bolt is a rag fan. With him, we wouldn't need the other ten players, not even a keeper. His pace would guarantee a win in every competition for the next 12,000 years and we would never concede!

Oh, but to dream...

Strange

we are always more effective against the better teams when yaya plays further forward
if garcia is the man to allow yaya that extra freedom, we could be in for some fun
and if that method is via a flat back 4 with garcia just in front or part of a back 5 then so be it
yaya further forward is the key
