Climate Change is here and man made

2015 is apparently the warmest year on record. We've also seen a drastic rise in the number of British people dying from cold related illness this year.

Part 3 that relates rising sea levels to melting Arctic ice is complete bollocks which suggests the rest of it might not be completely reliable.
Is that right? I'm taking it on trust that the BBC wouldn't lie. I'll stick with Private Eye in future!

It might be hard to feel climate change in england but whether climate change is true or not i can certainly said it has by growing up in pakistan, and never heard of heavy rains in saudi arabia but over the last few years there have been heavy rains there

Whether climate change is happening or not...

I have issues with the IPCC data and its lack of transparency. They are the sole arbiters of the accumulated historical climate data - which in itself is a bit whiffy.

The 'hockey stick' of the temperature rise originally presented ... Back in the late 80's I think ... was shown to have been based on some dubious statistical practise and they were called out on it (by a very few) so they went away, massaged the figures some more, and then represented the same 'hockey stick' graph of temperature rise.

The mass of data (it is a very large amount!) is held by them, they release sets of this data, to anyone interested, but they don't allow release of the (even bigger mass) original prinary source data - as far as I can recall.

It's only in the last 50 or so years , that we have comprehensive data capturing for the entire globe.

As I said, I'm not saying whether global warming is happening or not.

Just... That for something as important as it potentially is, to mess up the science and maths, is a serious mistake for legitimacy and transparency.

what I have never understood about all this is that as far as I have seen on documentaries etc where we all are has - in the past - been some sort of tropical rainforest and has been under glaciers hundreds of feet thick. Clearly the climate is a dynamic thing that has been changing over - well all of time really so it should be no surprise that its changing now. So why do we have the arrogance to think we can change it back to the equivalent of some nice spring day in the early 1960's or something? perhaps our efforts would be best put into adapting how we exist on the planet in its changing atmosphere?

Ice ages come and go, naturally the earth warms up a bit in between. Climate change isn't a myth, it's a fact. What's happening at the moment is it's seemingly accelerated, due to our actions and pollution. There is no quick fix, to resolve it will take a prolonged and concerted effort. Given the rest of the shit going on around the world, I'm not sure we've got it in us. So suck it up because things ain't gonna change any time soon.

I believe in climate change...constant climate change that is unstoppable. How can anyone sensibly believe that anyone can make a dent in it. Isn't it more important to adapt to it.

Like you said there are far more important things for us to work on, like pulling young people out of drug abuse, elimination any homelessness directly related to poverty, fighting gangland crap, punishing criminals properly, company for the elderly, healthcare for the poor, better education for our kids, anything that helps normal people lead a happier life.

Not peace in the middle east, not ending corruption in Africa, not ending terrorism. Impossible things.

Close the walls and really help those we can.

You almost had me there, and then I got to the last line

Temperature has been dropping for the last 4000 years. Don't know why it's suddenly a big deal that it's risen a bit.
Minoan Warm period gave us The Iliad. Roman warm period, well what did the romans ever do for us? Medieval Warm period had the vikings and then Normans on the move. 1 degree per 100 years is fuck all in terms of rate of change over the planets history too. It's massively over hyped and for the next week the scare stories will be ridiculous. Thankfully 18 years of no significant warming has shown how poor the models are so no one sensible takes too much notice of the impending carbon death cult. Just a few middle class rent a crowd activists who don't care how much their energy bills have gone up due to green subsidies.

Any government that charges industry or its citizens for high co2 emissions. It can't be challenged as it's backed up by government funded scientist it's perfect really.

We in pakistan didnt used to pay any such tax untill recently thanks to imf, now we have to pay carbon tax aswell :/

Talking shit there mate. Humans, us, we're more resilient than you give us credit for. We're not indestructible like Captain Scarlet but I'm sure we could survive the cold fur a few years.
