Clive the rag Tyldesley

Thought he said "the most important" rather than the best?

He did say "most important" made me smile as my thoughts once again went back to that incredible day.

Fair assessment really no issues with that! Had to pull Townsend up though, I'm sure he said Zabba was a 'Uruguayan international' which I noticed.
Yep. Called Zabba Uruguayan. Cockney shit.

At one point I noticed he commented on the "flair players" on the pitch for both teams, and commented how few of them were English. They weren't flair players but we had a fair few Englishmen on the pitch. Not trying to paint this as a dig but I didn't think it was necessary. Not many teams do have lots of English players these days, its not new, what was his point?

At half-time he said " Maybe, just MAYBE, Manchester City had the better of the first half".....edited out of the highlights show.

Fuck off Clive.

I'm struggling to count more than 2 we had on the pitch. Not sure Chelsea had any. Which fair few are you counting?

I thought it was Clive. The line was 'Zabaleta does a very good innocent face, the Uruguayan international'

Chelsea had Bertrand mate. I guess we had Joleon on at the end to make it 3 which in todays game is a decent number

Watching the game on ITV I definitely sensed an undertone of both commentators wanting Chelsea to win. Not really faulting us for anything but definitely over hyping any Chelsea attack.

He didn't just say that, he said something along the lines of "he puts on an innocent face, for a Uruguayan full-back."

What does that even mean?

I find a lot of what he says to be tainted with mild xenophobia if I'm honest. He's constantly mentioning nationality and how many English players there are on the pitch. It's the 21st century, I really don't care how many English players are there, every one of the people on that pitch is there on merit and that's all that matters as far as I can see.

Edit: I've just re-read what you put. I'm pretty sure it was Tyldesley who said he was Uruguayan.

Remember a newspaper article a few years back where a lot of the commentators and journo's stated their allegiances, and Tyldesley said he was a rag. This was pre "night of all nights" and I thought surprising because he did my favourite all-time City match commentary. The 5-1 derby in '89, Hinchcliffe at the far post and all that.
